Yeah, ours says a max of 2 hours in the car seat. We just use the pram with the chair it comes with in the flat position for anything longer.

we have bought new very expensive my 3rd is due 27/3/13 we are looking for a double pram at the mo but believe me my partner whatever we get soon wants a change ridiculous i know we have had 3 prams for my daughter since she was born 15 months ago

just get what feels the best to walk with most practical some are just to bulky to chuck in the boot and heavy we found the light ones to be the best

travel system are good with base which stays strapped in car and if your visiting family or friends keep the baby in it in there house get a decent used one off ebay baby has plenty of support

but defo dnt buy new not worth it

I would only buy new myself, at least the car base + seat. If you're buying used you have no idea of previous use/misuse - same reason I wouldn't buy a used helmet either. Might look completely fine, but be structurally weakened by accident damage / mishandling.

Btw, nice to see all parents posting in this thread on various ungodly hours...

We got a silvercross , babies r us was the cheapest for. It as well!

We didn't bother with an all in one, it was pointless takes a minute at most to strap them in

This is what we did.

As it was a Graco one we used, the seat base was £40 not Maxi Cosi prices, but her parents bought it anywho

Busta, sounds like you're getting the idea. Get sorted early because it saves soo much hassle if the little bugger pops out early Also, try the usual places like Mothercare and Toys'r'us (where you can try stuff in the car for fitment) BUT keep an eye out for offers online or voucher/discount codes. No shame in saving a few quid here and there and usually good deals about.

Good example being when we bought Isaac's latest car seat. Halfrauds was £160 for the black one but £100 for the pink - eh? Went to Toys'r'us and both were £100 from £160, plus 20% off that weekend AND a saved up £5 voucher - £160 seat for £75

Bugaboo Bee buggy mate, lightweight, strong, seat can be turned round to face in or out and folds up small. Car seat just clips on top.

Well they can't exactly walk or toddle at newborn age.
But sorry is there a certain amount of time that you should only carry in car seat?

Couldn't I just leave baby seat in car and use carry cot on pram? That way a bit of movement is going on for baby? Or use the pram flat but dosent look intimate for you and the baby if you get what I mean? I could be wrong though.

Yes 2 hours!

It's not about them walking or crawling. Remember their spine is growing.

Imagine you being sat In the same position for 2 hours with out the ability to move

Yeah this is it, doing the reaserch now quickley and have a look at a couple in the flesh to see what we want then trawl the net for discounts, seen as we're buying new as depending on which fits our bill they can be big price differences, but tbh with it being the 1st then you feel like money's no object as it should last 3 years hopefully but after hearing that you guys have gone through 3 buggies etc I'm a bit worried now? Why is it you've changed buggies? Was it not suitable for your needs? Or did it not last long and broke etc?
Are these items sturdy and last able? Cos if not I won't spend big money on one if that's the case.

Now buying a crash helmet saves your life and I have bought 2 used prams now 6 months old hardly used or pushed no problems on eBay just go check them out before you bid

And people might slate me but both our kids were sat up in older front facing seat by six months easy they was the right weight and had to troible surpurting there heads so no need for travel system we thought after this time but that's us

All babies are different you soon learn what's best and what route to take when buying things hope you have fun

We bought this

And never had to change it , ours isn't that colour though.

It lasted us 2 years and it now in the loft for when we have out next next one.

The old saying springs to mind , you get what you pay for.

We go £60 off when if we joined their mother scheme loyalty thing. We didn't bother with the travel system, they're pointless imo

With the first one, the Graco, Isaac outgrew the baby seat at 7 months die to being so big. So we decided he'd be good for alight stroller now and sold the Graco system inc seat and bought a permanent seat for the car (stage 1-3 or something). He just didn't get on with the MacLaren stroller as per first post so we sold it and got him the Maxi Cosi buggy on reviews. Again it was good but bulky so as he got firmly into toddler age and liked walking about, we not long back sold that and got another (different model) MacLaren stroller. He likes this one more

Some people get away with one system (like Ant did) but my mrs is a fanny sometimes and made the wrong decisions I picked this MacLaren Techno XT and he's fine with it. Our intention was to have the big travel system till he's a toddler anyway and then buy a lightweight stroller for him.

See now that's the confusion I'm in, I like that one a 2 in 1?

The option is for going for one of them and just get a separate car seat

My daughter is 4 1/2 months old now and she's going to be out of her first baby seat by 6 months at the most if not before, she's very tall for her age, she in something like the 91st percentile for her height, which is not suprising considering I'm 6ft5.
She's fully able to support her own head and her legs support her weight for standing, she just can't balance herself to stand so needs a little support.
We are planning on seeing how she fits into the forward facing section of the travel system this weekend.
We bought a silver cross travel system and I bought the Isofix base separate, never used the pram base she sits in the travel seat which drops onto the pushchair base.

She's never in it for more than a couple of hours in one go but I never really considered how long she was in it really, when we go out and stop for a coffee somewhere she gets taken out anyway.

Hmm
Am I right in thinking that the bigger the wheels the better ride on rough terrain?

Uppababy Vista with a Maxicosi Cabriofix car seat

/End thread

Had silvercross and it was rubbish compared to the vista
Check the Which website, the Vista and maxicosi are clearly the best in all aspects

Flimsy, didn't go well on rough terrain, near impossible to push one handed, didn't fold very well after a while
To name a few
