No update as yet Geraint, unfortunately I won't be picking it up tomorrow.
I won't guess at the fault as that wouldn't be fair, so I am leaving it in the hands of the experts @ Enginetuner to get it sorted for me.
I doubt I will be able to pick it up next week either, I am in Sweden for 3/4 days next week and the week after is looking like being fairly hectic as well.
So it might be towards the end of the month before I can get it picked up, oh well it's only money.

I recevied a call on Wednesday of last week from Martyn to inform me that whilst mapping my car on the rolling road that the coolant temperature had started to give cause for concern.
You can imagine the thought that went through my head - head gasket failure having suffered it once before, I had already started debating what to do in terms of having it fixed or breaking the car.
As they were busy they couldn't have a look and diagnose the problem until Friday so I had plenty of time to weigh up my options - fix it the engine, have a 2.1 or 2.35 engine built or break the car.
Anyway, on Friday afternoon I found out that the actual cause of the rising coolant temperature was all actually down to a failed thermostat. The centre pin in the thermostat had worked it's way loose and gone back into the thermostat spring locking it in the closed position meaning that coolant could not circulate as the thermostat would not open.
I breathed a sigh of relief at this very good news, as I was really expecting the worst.
Today might well yield the final mapping results as I believe that Martyn is going to finish the mapping today, so I might have a couple of RR plots to post up later.

Thanks Dave, I hope to see yours back on the road very soon.
Thanks Craig, I would have loved it to have been at Japfest but at least it all should come good today.
I know what you mean Tubby, but the wait will be worth it although it'll be Saturday at the very earliest before I can get down to Plymouth to pick her up.

There was nothing wrong the old radiator but I'd decided to change it as a precautionary measure due to the age of the vehicle.
It will be having the AH Fabrications radiator fitted in the future, but for now the original radiator will be fine.

Thanks Craig, I'm off to Sweden with work and won't be back until very late Friday evening so the plan is to get back to Birmingham and then drive down to Bristol and stay in a Travel Lodge or similar.
Thay way it'll only be a short drive down to Plymouth on the Saturday morning rather than me having to get up in the middle of the night again.
Thanks for the offer though, obviously Tubby is jealous as I had to beat him off with a stick on Saturday as he get's the wrong idea very easily.
Now now Tubby, jealousy really doesn't become you, besides as I've told you I'm not a set of saloon doors ie I don't swing both ways.

No probs bud, the offers there if plans change, don't mind a road trip, and I wouldn't mind a look around ET workshops anyway.
And Tubbs it wouldn't be that exciting, they don't have out pedigree sheep down that neck of the woods

Unfortunately my engine even though it had the best quality components used is quite noisey in terms of the 'det' found during the initial mapping.
It could run at 2.0 bar but the engine would probably shit itself in no time so the boost had to be dialled back a notch, I have learned a very important lesson though in what has been found during this latest round of modifications.
The plan is now to run the car over the rest of the year, and then look at an Enginetuner 2.1 stroker build early in next year.
And I now know why and what caused the initial head gasket / engine failure in the first instance.
