Craig, it my plans change then I will get in touch.

Thanks Merv, I know already that the engine is the 'weak' part of equation, the turbo's full power cannot be exploited due to the engine being the weak part of the equation.

Unfortunately my engine even though it had the best quality components used is quite noisey in terms of the 'det' found during the initial mapping.

It could run at 2.0 bar but the engine would probably shit itself in no time so the boost had to be dialled back a notch, I have learned a very important lesson though in what has been found during this latest round of modifications.

The plan is now to run the car over the rest of the year, and then look at an Enginetuner 2.1 stroker build early in next year.

And I now know why and what caused the initial head gasket / engine failure in the first instance.
As said on phone 'tother day Ty, really pleased for you that the issue was not a major one, and hats off to ET for finding so quickly, sounds like a rare occasion (t'stat pin fail) but just goes to show it can and does happen, that little ****er could've cost you a lorra money.

Hope it's all sorted for you now end of the week and you can finally get and use/have some fun with her, swing by mine on your way back we'll go for a little spin up on Epynt..... You knowes you wants too......

If I've got the time then I'll certainly call in to see you on the way home, failing that earlyish Sunday morning.

I'll also have to pop in to see Ozz as well.

Cheers Emma, it was an anxious time waiting to hear about what had caused the problem and what was required to fix it.

Thanks as well for the messages of encouragement as well to you and Tubbs, you two make me laugh.

It is fully forged, but let's just say it's not performing to it's component's full potential.

It's proven to be particularly noisy when pushed to the capabilities of the SC50, so Martyn has mapped it to be safe which will prolong the engines lifespan.

I do know the result of the pump fuel map RR run, but I'll wait to post it until I've got the pump fuel and methanol results plus of course the relevant plots for interrogation by those with more knowledge than myself.

Thanks Si, there will be a 2.1 coming next year so all is not lost quite yet and it'll exploit the SC50 far more than the current 2.0 will manage.

I suppose if the current engine had shat itself then I'd easily be able to justify the expense of a 2.1 to myself but for the moment it'll have to wait until early next year.

That's great news Ty, it'll be nice to see her in the flesh once you have it back. I've never heard of the pin coming out of the thermostat, one to keep in mind for the future! Just happy that it wasn't a major problem.

Glad everything's okay Ty, bet you can't wait to drive it now with good figures.

What's your plan with the car? I'd have thought 500hp+ would be more than adequate for the roads! Lol.

What's your intentions with it? Hike up to 600-650+ with a 2.1? I think you'll get to a point where it'll be almost un drivable with more hp, as a road car anyway. I'm guessing you'd have to think of a gearbox to take that sort of Hp, if you go for more?

What Hp is the gearbox/drivetrain good for? I'd have to be leaving the luxuries and going for safety with more hp, cage etc. I can only imagine the car being beyond wild with anymore hp! Lol.

Your definitely going to need to put this on track to see what it's capable of

It's it very good turbo mate, looked at a forged Hawkeye with this turbo.

Apparently the reason the engine will not make good power is because I built it. What I did wrong I am unsure of but I'm happy that experts have identified this to Tyron before a catastrophic failure.
I can only apologise for my errors but I can only do as well as I can, I gave 110% on that build and it clearly wasn't good enough.

The only thing that is bugging me and I don't want it to be a debate, as I will not be replying the this thread again, if its so poorly built why is the mapper happy to map it to the figures you are suggesting?
And why not break the engine now whole the internals are worth something and not wait until they fail and potentially damage 100% of the engine.

Just to clear something up I offered a full refund to both the people I built an engine for at the time and they both replied saying they were happy with the engines.

As I said, I apologise for helping you Tyron but I have clearly made things worst for you.

Regards

Dylan.

Somewhere in that ball park is where they are expected to be.

I'd never heard of that one before either, I had a look at a thermostat in work today and I can see how it could happen just I'd never heard of it happening. It's just plain old component failure, nothing more and nothing less but luckily it didn't goose the engine.

Thanks Geraint, my intentions were or still are to get to the limits of the SC50 on pump fuel but that will now be with a 2.1 stroker engine.

Going any further than around 500bhp on pump fuel will make the car undriveable and will mean a lot more expense than just the 2.1 stroker engine.

In terms of the drivetrain it should be more than capable of coping with the 500bhp if not more, the six speed transmission will take more power than that without issue. I uprated the clutch to an ACT SB4-XTSS which is rated to around 560bhp plus an ACT Pro Street lightened flywheel as well.

I do fancy having a go at drag racing with this car rather than circuit racing, but given the large turbo perhaps circuit use might be better of the power.

Yes all the Scoobyclinic Racing Turbo's make good power and all seem to perform to their power rating if not out perform it, I only hope that my driving abilities can cope, match or are better than the cars.

I would like to confirm, that DYLAN did ring me up when his engine building skills were being questioned, he offered myself and ty a full refund on both engines, and i turned him down flat,as did ty, as my car was running really well and it still is to this day over a year later!!

Alot of us feel that way mate! All you can do is start off easy and slowly progress how much you push the car and then all if a sudden your "use" to the power and want more!

All I will say is dont chase pub figures but a drivable car, you don't want to end up with too much power as it does happen and your left with reluctance to put your foot down in certain driving conditions.

I am done with the past before this turns into a debate / slanging match, what's done is done and I've certainly learned a very valuable lesson.

Experience is a great learning tool for me and I never repeat mistakes.

Flat floor shifting as well Geraint, I only hope this proposed Circuit Of Wales will have a dragstrip it would make a fortune over here.

I know what you mean Si, it's a matter of finding the sweet spot between power and driveability.

From the initial RR plot I have seen which was on the first map before the ECU went off for the CAN to be repaired it pulled really well from low down all the way past 7000rpm within the confines of the engine.

I only hope the A38 will be fairly clear on Saturday for some brief blats of the throttle pedal.
