Plus you need to remember that on the road the boost power is earlier as well.

Would like to take the chance to say well done Martyn and engine tuner.
Dont get me wrong, i aint knocking the mapping or the car build. I know enginetuner have a good rep from their history of builds and maps of other locals.

I was only talking of what i would like personally from this type of car and my own driving style.

I'm happy for Ty and what he's achieved after everything he's had done to the car.

It has come to my attention that a certain individual has inferred via a social media site that 'maybe' I'm a liar, now I can either be ignore it or act on it.

I'll leave it to the individual concerned to post a retraction on the social network site and edit his post accordingly, plus as I've posted this message I'll also expect a similar retraction on here as well.

The choice is down to the individual concerned.

I am not worried Rob, it will require a slightly different driving style but the JDM 6 speed gearing should help that along.

Thanks Geraint, not too sure as you know them better than me, perhaps on the straights (what little of them that are there) I'd pull a gap so I'd have to block you in the corners.

Don't worry I know it wasn't you Gaz, I was just making a point to someone that making defamantory comments about me on a social network site and thinking that I wouldn't find out about it doesn't make it OK.

Freedom of speed and thought is one thing, but inferring I am a liar is another.

Hopefully there will be no further repeats.

I know it was a guess as you posted the day before it was even mapped on methanol, either that or you have Doc Brown's Delorean.

You were bloody close as well.

Well I picked the car up this morning and I have to say that despite the fact that in effect it's a large turbo on a small engine that the car goes very well indeed.

All due to the excellent workmanship carried out by Ryan and Martyn @ Enginetuner (plus the other staff at Enginetuner who carried out some of the extra mechanical work required).

The gearbox does require a little bit more use than what was required with the LM400 but that was too be expected, it's a pay off between low end spool and top end power. As someone posted on this thread previously 'if you have lag then you are in the wrong gear' and that is very true indeed.

Martyn took me for a test drive and to show me how the various features of the Alcatek ECU and Toucan touch screen display, I am really impressed by how well everything works and the features / functions you can access.

The car drives like a dream with no hesitation when 'giving it the beans' and given the previous problems with the Simtek idling and cold start it is just like the factory ECU in these terms.

The good thing about launch control is that you can now choose to have it off or on just by selecting it on the Toucan, whereas before it automatically engaged at a selected RPM when you were stationary and in first gear with the clutch pedal depressed (5000 rpm on my car from memory).

The flat floor shifting takes some getting used to having been taught the clutch down, throttle pedal up technique it is strange to plant your foot to the floor and then pressing and releasing the clutch pedal. It works very well indeed as you can see on the Toucan boost gauge that the boost stays constant and does not drop at all, plus the acceleration just carries on from where you left off.

Switching maps, engaging launch control and switching the anti lag on/off is a breeze with the Toucan, as well as the warning alarms for the sensors is great. You don't need to constantly watch the Toucan scanning for faults, if there is a problem you will get an audible warning as well the visual one.

When I had gauges fitted I found that I spent too much time watching them for oil temp and pressure constantly worried in case something went wrong.

In short I am very very happy with the car and the work that has been carried out.

See you next Saturday afternoon Rob, I had to run her back part on the distance of V Power only (I had to pay 153.9 pl for it on the M5 ) and you can really tell the difference.

Thanks Tim, I am really pleased with the Toucan - if your ECU can support it (is the OE ecu version far off?) then it is a great bit of kit.

In my eyes far better than the range of traditional gauges on offer from any manufacturer as you can personalise totally to suit yourself.

A great piece of kit and well worth the money.
