I've reverted back to a previous idea I had for the car and gone back to a reverse bonnet vent, I know that these really do their job very well and really help to remove the heated air that builds up in the engine bay.

Having previously had quite a few different styles, the quality of this Chargespeed item is the best on the market.

I'd borrowed the above from the seller's thread (I hope he doesn't mind).

All hell breaks loose after 4000 rpm until just under 8000 rpm, it means adopting a slightly different driving style but it's mightily impressive for a large turbo on a 2.0 engine.

As for the 2.1, I'd hazard a guess at 500 bhp on pump fuel and around 550 bhp on a methanol mix. That would be running the 2.1 engine to around 2.2 bar of peak turbo charge pressure whereas the current engine is only running 1.7 bar of peak pressure.

Plus I'd imagine the 2.1 engine would allow earlier and more brutal use of the turbos spool as well.

Yes Ryan does an excellent job and is just over the border in Leominster, don't let the fact he's in England put you off though.

Well worth the drive and time to visit.

Your more than welcome anytime mate

So Ty's car is back in the workshop for a few little jobs to be done, first of which being the leaking drive shaft oil seal, went straight forward with no hassles.
Second was to fit the turbo titanium heat blanket, now this was a ball ache with Ty's turbo being 'larger' than the average type, eventually got it in place and the retaining springs in place.
Whilst the car was on the ramp I took the opportunity to put the new whiteline adjustable drop links on.
Last but not least I got the aircon re-gased and thankfully we had no leaks and it's now working once more.

Last job the list for now is to machine polish the paint work as with the car being stood at the workshop over winter it's not looking it's best so a clay bar and a polish will sort that.

Oh and I'll be fitting the new chargespeed reverse scoop when it lands tomorrow.

They all talk funny over there, but for English they're not too bad I suppose.

As for civilisation you're living in God's country, there is none better.

Thanks for the good work again Ryan, I'm really look forward to picking her up as the bank holiday is looming and it'll be nice to get some mileage on her.

I'm sure the AC will be used at some point this summer for at least 5 mins if I'm lucky that is.

Ty was kind enough to offer his car as a "test mule" for one of my scoops. I wanted to try a self locking nut for the first time and I was testing another scoop on my car at the time so I took him up on his offer. Unfortunately the grp man had only used 1 layer of thin matting on this scoop and after it had been painted, dried and put on the car, 1 of the vanes started to collapse. Id seen the scoop a few days before when I was over at Ryans and it looked great. I took it back and we cut into it to see what happened. The 2 previous scoops were and still are ok, but this one went wrong. Im guessing that the chap I used got one of his staff to make this one and they did it "quickly" He offered to produce me another one but I declined his offer....
Ive found another grp company and Ive had 3 scoops produced there and all seem fine. They promise to use 2 layers of matting, so this problem shouldnt happen again.
I refunded Ty his money, said sorry for letting him down and thanked him for his support in what I was doing.

Thanks Cliff, I appreciate the kind words.

We can all appreciate that with modifying cars it's mostly a case of one step forward and two steps backward.

Makes you wonder why we put ourselves through the stress, grief, disappointment, expense and hassle of modifying our cars.

Likewise Brian :-) nice to put a name to the face/car.

Car looking lovely Ty, nice to see you out enjoying it and have a quick run, she really does pull well. Get out and enjoy it now mate its been a long time coming.

Bri, it's more a case of doing a mileage run, to have a guide for everyone to know how much fuel to budget for. Therll be some good roads involved whichever! Get your name down on the list.

Good to see you earlier Robbie, Brian, Ozz and Julie.

I did have a moment of concern when the knock warning appeared on the Toucan display and it dawned on me that I needed to change gear. Oops.

Like I've said all along the car now requires a different driving style, but it pulls like a bitch from 4500rpm.
