Unless anyone has x-ray eyes, the reasons behind the failure will be un-known until the engine is stripped and inspected.

'nuff said.

Thanks Jay, yes it's been a little disheartening to say the least but I was faced with two choices - either to throw to towel in or not.

Just to update all the interested parties that the engine will be removed by Ryan and then I will be taking it to *********************** for them to rebuild the engine for me.

I have my own theory on what has gone wrong which I will keep to myself, now can we all stop posting theories about what may have caused the problem.

If this bun fight carries on then I will ask for the thread to be locked, once I have the pertinent info to hand I will let it be known for the good or bad of all the 'interested parties'.

Anything I post will be factual with evidence to back up what I post.

It is a single din yes and I'm 99% sure it will work on a OS map as I've asked the question my self, it works on standard ecu's as well, I just think its the user option mode you can't access where you can alter certain parameters, or at least that's what I was informed, can't remember from whom but I enquired about it when I was thinking of the OS route myself

Thanks Martin, these things happen and you then have to get on and deal with it as you can't change what has passed.

I did get more than a little cheesed at one low point but thankfully I got some good advice as it turned the situation around for me.

Onwards and upwards as they say.

On a little note I have ordered an RCM baffled sump plate this morning, I was sorry I didn't get one fitted before but now the engine will be stripped it makes sense to get it done.

Well I'm on a train home from Hereford after dropping the car off with Ryan for the engine to be removed from the car.

To say I'm cheesed of would be an understatement to say the least, after all I've spent on the blessed thing to think that I'm now having to sell off the goodies to fund the engine rebuild.

I am really eager to find out what the strip down reveals, primarily for my own reference if nothing else.

Thanks Kev, you just get the feeling with these cars that you'd be better off flushing £20 notes straight down the toilet and cut out the middle man.

Get is back close to standard, I am driving a standard car at the moment and its a pleasure, light clutch, nice and quiet and no hassle of external fuel pumps or aftermarket ecu's. Stress free when taking it out now. The factor in this now for me is keep the power where the standard clutch can cope. Its a world apart from driving a 600bhp car.

I agree Steve 100%, it should be more about the enjoyment than anything else, with the recent problems I've looked upon the car with a grow sense of wanting to kick it's panels in.

I have now sourced the STi TMIC, scoop undertray, injectors, breather lines, air cleaner and associated parts, standard FPR and Spec C inlet hose.

I now only have to find a reasonably price scoop and VF36/37 and that will be it other than the engine rebuild, running in map, the running in and final mapping.

Luckily I never sold it Tim, so at least that is one less thing for me to source. Although I might try an OS map on the standard ECU as the Carberry maps do seem to have more features than the Ecutek system.

Not much choice with the STi TMIC Rob, the reverse vents do a very good job but totally useless for a standard TMIC setup.

I've just managed to last minute snipe an eBay auction for a set of very rare Genome Defi gauges for a very good price indeed.
