Yeah, I'm gravitating to the older ones as the 05/55 really seem to demanding a premium price.

I know you're all probably getting bored BUT does anyone recognise this car?

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/c...uk-2004/952548

Seems well looked after, low mileage and the starter mods I'd want?

Opinions?

You're still looking which means you haven't rushed into anything - good work. There are plenty out there, just imo not many tidy ones!

Good luck, I'll keep my eyes peeled for you

Don't know the car but £9k is a bit much, if it's what you really want £8k, but it's not my money.

Thanks buddy, the price I'd be looking to pay would be around the 8k mark.

It's difficult to work out what to do as everyone seems to think the 54/05/55 wide track cars are the ones to go for but they certainly cost a premium!

Yes it's true they do, but i suppose you get it back come resale time, but the rate prices are dropping maybe not.

I'd pay £3/4k for a WRX Wagon and mod it personally, but i would say that because that's what i'm doing, saloon is no use to me, and i've already built one engine and will do all the work myself so for £9k i can build a monster.

Not much help to you i know, but some food for thought, but i wouldn't dismiss the 03/04 cars you can buy a lot of car for £8/9k just need to be patient.

I paid 8k for an almost identical car about two months ago, same colour, mileage, everything - mine just didn't have the chrome grills and had the prodrive PFF7 alloys.

It's so much car for £8k it's unreal, I wouldn't feel robbed if I paid 11 or 12 - but the market is hard for these cars which means 8k is about right, even if it is a bit of a crime!

Thanks mate, I've checked through vosa and the mileage is correct. The only thing is he's got no proof that its been remapped but the last owner said it had.

I've got an undocumented remap too, infact I'm going to Scoobyclinic tomorrow for them to give me a winter service and a RR session to see what the power output is like just for my piece of mind

I didn't word my previous post very well, but I guess if the condition of the car is right (no bodywork issues, tidy interior, no engine niggles, etc) then paying £9k wouldn't be the end of the world, as I feel these cars are worth it - but the market (and proximity to xmas) may give you the bargaining power to push closer to £8k

Cheers mate, I had seen that one.

From personal experience the warranty is probably not going to be worth the paper it's written on but Ill give them a call.

That is nice, and the best colour too.

Dealer seems to be ok too, been in business a good while and more than one site, i bet you'd get that for £8.5k too for cash, bit higher miles but at least you have some comeback if there are any problems.

Agree about warranties though, i had one paid extra for it only to discover it had a clause that said need to be serviced every 6000 miles and manufactures was 10,000 so useless in the end. read the small print.
