Cool as to why I suggested them as I've been researching the home insurance game for years now and found them top with the cover and excess.
The main thing with insurances is to add your values up wisely as most insurances give you a guide figure that dosent suit everyone as they quote huge amounts for certain things which can dramatically reduce the premium if done correctly

A totally ill informed statement as usual.

Its not that they choose not to insure their property - its because they cant.
After July 2013 insurers can refuse existing cover provided (they were previously obligued to continue existing cover irrespective the number of claims and frequency).

Iam sure some of them could not get insured but i suspect most just took a chance and didnt bother.
Either way, i can totally understand friends and family helping them out but as for the wider population???

My point remains - if you cannot afford to live somewhere, even if because you cannot afford the Insurance, you MOVE!!!

Yes, isn't it nice by the banks of the river on a summers evening? Well, that comes at a cost - that cost is high Insurance .................... if you would rather not pay it, then I'm not putting my hand in my pocket to pay for the damage on your behalf!

There will be plenty of people who can not only not afford to buy insurance,but they cannot afford to move either!

Les, come on - there are not many people who cannot afford to do what has to be done.

My point is aimed squarely at those who choose to spend their money on things other than proper Insurance protection ..... I would be the first to assist someone who had done everything they could to protect themselves, but still failed to.

I'd close this fund for insuring people on flood plains etc. Why should I subsidise peoples insurance when they were stupid enough to buy a flood risk house. It may stop these developers building these houses in the first place.

Grow a brain when buying/building a house or buy plastic furniture.
