Spoke to Mike yesterday. For a multitude of reasons, he can't tell me much (or won't LOL ).

Basically, though:

1) The STi7 PPP *IS* going to happen.
2) It is going to happen fairly soon.

Yes, I know we have all been hearing "4-6 weeks" for the last 3 months, but it should now be soon.

Lastly, for those inevitable questions of price, spec and power/bhp, you won't get that until the official announcement!

Question

Will it be a "proper" remap this time? Or will it be left mega rich on the fuelling using the original timing algorithm and a MAP sensor remap by RPM? It would be nice if the Select monitor would report correct boost on late model PPP cars. I suppose your hands are tied with the warranty though.

Indeed. It's annoying having a very accurate means of monitoring what the car's doing, only for Prodrive to come along and make the Boost reported meaningless

Thumbs up

I was driven in one by Mike at one of the dealer days also! Mike's comment to me was that the chief benefit was felt between 3000 rpm and 4000... and it certainly got going much earlier than the standard STi does!! I think I might want the benefit of 18" wheels as well, so that bumps the cost up....

My guess is that it will be an evolution of the WRX PPP ECU setup - so no!

Better mega rich than mega lean at the top end LOL

Dave,
As you seem to be in the know  and you know Mr Wood will the official annoncement of the Torque, Bhp and price be available when test units (PPP) are fitted to the dealers demo's ? would like to know what I am testing
The rumours from a few different camps reckon +7-8% bhp & +10-12% torque increases and dealers will now have to try to head off the 305-320Bhp guesses and stress low down torques, mid range punch to avoid over expectation. I hope these are just scary E-Mail rumours and no basis for truthIMHO

Sorry probably fuelling the rumours by posting this but we shall soon see

The simple answer is I don't know! Mike only tells me what he can, and that info is not in the public domain yet.

One email I had yesterday from a Scoobynet member said a dealer had told him the PPP would only give 277bhp and be £2100

Form an orderly queue.....

Pick mine up on the 8th june. Dealer still says itll be 300ish bhp 384nm torque.

I think they know something we all don't. Prodrive themselves are very cagey. Have you ever tried to ring them direct. Boy the CIA give more info.

Maybe the Sti Ltd is coming, in small numbers.

Mike's car has the numberplate PRO 300. I think that says itall: and it's consistent with my informed informant's estimate of +15% HP, and £1750-ish VAT Inc. I suggest that those of you who are tecchies are going to do your own thing regardless, and those of us who aren't, but get £1750-worth of extra grin (while keeping their warranty intact and their hands clean), will buy!!

BTW, how do get these damn Smilies to work, someone......? When I click on "smilies enabled" I get a Message 404 of death.

Regards

Phil

PRO 300 was also on the last demo car, which funnily enough was a UK300, so it ain't owt to do with the STi PPP.

Win some, lose some.....

I've been driven in this motor, don't forget, and S**t does it go! So I'll stick with +15% BHP, £1750.

BTW (repeats) How do i get these damn Smilies to work....?

Cheers

Phil,
If you edit some ones post will see how the work
: D =
: rolleyes : =
: ) =
: ( =

Etc Etc. miss gaps between collons and Symbols. You won't see the smilies till you submit the Post you will only see what you typed

Phil,
Also remember if you were testing a Lift or engine you would test it at least over 30% of the threshhold in other words if a crane needed to lift pass a 1 Tonne lift you would run constant tests at 1.5- 2Tonnes or a 290 Bhp engine you would test run it a 320-330 bhp to say it was more than capable to cope or guarantee 290bhp IMHO
BHP is only availale at certain revs Torque is what counts ....give me 280 Bhp at 7Krpm and 450Lbs Torque over 350Bhp at 7krpm and 280 lbs Torque any day IMHO

Apparently there was some kind of Prodrive tour yesterday.
It's out in a month, and the initial batch will have to be done at Banbury. Prodrive reckon that they will be able to do 1-2 cars a day meaning that in the first month they will be able to do 30-40 cars(queue here).

The PPP will give around 300Bhp and about 315Lb/Ft of torque(to be confirmed and subject to dyno testing).

Cost will be about £2000

Allegedly

That torque figure looks good, years ago I flew a turbocharged piston twin and we used to set engine power using torque as the definative engine power output. We were never interested in bhp

God this is getting sooooooo boring.......

They did this to us with the MY01 WRX PPP....... don't believe anything until the press release as you wont get anything out of Prodrive other than "it will be worth the wait".....

Sorry - but anyone who says "Mike Wood told me XYZ" is talking sh1te (sorry Dave!!).... Mike won't let anything "solid" out of the bag until they officialy go to press release........ he kept telling me "the wait will be worth it" for 5 months!!!!!

Dont forget - you'll be waiting forever... i'd guess September if last years **** up is to be any indication.

They let out a press release in May 2001 - but then current owners had to wait till September if they were lucky to actually get the items fitted to the cars.

Oh - and anyone who says that Prodrive will be fitting them at their site is also talking sh1te cause they can't run the monopoly like they did 2 years ago. It will have to be dealer fit.

All in all, anyone who believes they will get there PPP in 4-6 weeks will have presumeably paid a nice deposit to their dealer - who will sit on the deposit for the next three months and tell you that "Prodrive are having some problems" or some feable excuse like they did last year!!!!!! Save you deposits!!!!

Oh - and when you hear about the PPP on this site - your dealer will have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what you are talking about - as the link between Prodrive and IM is abysmal at best

Im sure it will be worth the wait though if my PPP is anything to go by

Just sit on your hands till then

Jza

If you check my posts I couldn't be more vague - I don't make guesses - i've spoken to and met Mike enough times to know the score - he will only tell me what he wants to/what he can do, that's his job. He doesn't bullsh1t, he will either tell me the truth or say nothing. He also knows I don't blab when I *am* told something.......

Totally agree with your "wait and see", that's basically the approach i've taken

The car i'm picking up from the dealer is an Sti with @300bhp, loads of extras. i am viewing it in the flesh tomorrow. I posted about this car a couple of months ago and was told it was a wind up, that I was lying etc etc. Well it's here at the garage and I'll get to see it tomorrow. If anyone is interested in a full spec I can post one tomorrow.

it wont be a PPP though so if it is 300BHP after mods, there goes your waranty.

I remember that thread. You wouldnt say who the dealer was at the time.
