Dave T-S,
I agree with your comments about nobody really caring about my car, which to say the least saddens me a great deal ref scoobynet. I was under the impression it was a forum for people with a genuine interest in scoobs to swap ideas, views likes dislikes etc. Not to get into endless tirades about how big mine is?

My smug attitude? Sorry if you feel that way i've been called worse no doubt you have too. But the facts are there and I can't/don't want to change that. If it upsets people then that's there problem not mine.

jonfelstead,
i didn't realise you had bought an import and therefore recind my comments directed to you. However my Sti is a one off and is covered by an IM 3 year warranty. Until I speak further to chiark I don't want to go into anything further. Suffice to say our cars are going to have a very similar base-line.

Talking

Hawkeye,
As to the comments regarding power output of 310bhp it was Auotcars review in particular and speaking to Warrander (whom I didn't buy mine from in case you wonder) that reckons JDM cars are nearer 310 than 280
Like I said, the standard STi 7 JDM's I've seen on the rollers get around 270bhp which is about right - not a chance that they get anywhere near 300 I'm guessing that it's in Warrander's interests to "talk these cars up" to help sell them.

So you've got a JDM spec STi 7 with an IM warranty???? Are you certain??? If so, I would v.interested to know how you got it!!!!

Cheers,

Matt

I guess the question is, could you take it to any UK dealer with a blown up engine and expect a new engine under warranty?
As far as I'm concerned, as long as a UK dealer has supplied a car and promises to honour the warranty then fine, enjoy the car. Lets face it...even the Listers demo cars have voided the warranty technically - fancy zorts, loads of Samco pipework - I'm sure none of it is 'official' prodrive upgrades.

Pooder: You have mail.

Well said John Felstead: The summary seems to be:
1. When's it coming? "Any day now" [Bill Gates definition]
2. What does it consist of? No-one tells for sure, but we can speculate.
3. What power/torque does it deliver? +15% is best guess
4. Does it perform? Everyone who's been driven by Mike says
5. Is it worth it? For old boys toys (that's me ) and occasional trackdayers - probably yes. For Anoraks - probably no!

Gosh - 7 pages of entertaining stuff to get this far!!

Yes, Dave, but I never use 1 word where 10 will do Report of a dealer taking an order was encouraging.... mine declined - tactfully - to formalise at this stage, so either the poster or I is being had over

Question

Honestly dont know if this is worth posting as I cant confirm any details but I live in Switzerland and have an MY02 STi and was out driving yesterday when I saw a prodrive STi with a sign on it advertising a "performance package" of an extra 53 HP for 8'000 SFr (about 3500 GBP). STi here is quoted at 265Hp so that would make 318. It came in 3 varieties something like +20Hp, +35Hp, +53Hp so I stopped at another garage and it had the same deal???? Have sent an Email to my dealer to check it out. Will update with details if I get them.

If you go to the thread What Have I Bought 2 you can see the pictures of my "imaginery" car????? You're not the only one to think this believe me, boy I've taken some stick on the board over this one.

As I said to people before I don't want to offend anybody but genuinely was interested what people thought. Hope youre the latter not the former.

Cool

Having started it off (this thread) I am now repossesing it!!

Hawkeye, I am not in the least jealous, I'll look forward to seeing / hearing more about your car, sounds very interesting, but i was expecting something a little more visually dramatic

Dave T - S can we drag this back to the original question(s) when?,whats involved?, and how much?

The rest of you ladies / gents I'm not too interested if yours is bigger than mine, it's only got 9 pimples when it should have 10, or any of the other esoteric stuff. as long as you enjoy your car then it doesn't really matter what anybody else thinks

John

I must be due for a chat with Mr W

At present, it's still that Prodrive insist it *will* happen, but absolutely no other factual information whatsoever

I've read this thread with great interest over the past few days or so.

I was invited to Croft circuit by Subaru recently and witnessed Mike Wood (at least I think it was him!) driving an STI7 fitted with the PPP. The vehicle sounded significantly more aggresive that the standard STI7s on show.

I discussed the package with Mike and although he wasn't specific he suggested power in the region of 300BHP for £1995ish (+VAT?).

The car in question was a Prodrive demonstrator and it was clear that Prodrive will be carrying out a full testing and evaluation programme before releasing any such PPP onto the general market.

We will just have to wait and see!

I will not commit any of my folding until I know exactly what I am buying.

Sorry mate, never give away location of the local good driving roads, or everyone ends up on them - it will end up like the famous (infamous ) B660

Of course, if you were to mail John, he *might* tell you

If either of you want to mail to the address in my profile, feel free (I suspect I may know the road, but if there's one you know about and I don't, then I'm interested )

Just to add to the circus, the RB5 was in for a service today so I took a type UK for a test drive. V nice but thats another finance issue !!! The salesman said his prodive "mate" has informed him the PPP was signed off yesterday but no details of whats involved, what the price will be or when it will be released. He did say that advertised power will be 305 bhp.

I have no idea as to the truth of above but i'll share it anyway.

WHINGE WHINGE WHINGE....

Flippin eck - im a good advocate of the odd maon - but you lot are getting really ****!!!!!!!!!

So - as i predicted - nothing changes ............. PPP due around september and owners to get them fitted around Novemember if they are lucky.....

Oh - and remember - Prodrive historically have gone for HUGE SAFE TORQUE rather than BHP.... they wont create something that's got huge top end - it'll fall off at 6k so it never goes bang.

Id expect another 25 bhp and 50 lb/ft - just like the WRX PPP

Another two penneth for the saga,

After talking to a very helpful chap from technical at Prodrive, I gleaned the following for what it's worth.

I was asking why you couldn't buy a round tailpipe prodrive BB on it's own. Only the Wrsport version, he said the round tailpipes were for the PPP packs.

When I asked about if the WRsport BB could be used he said that they had revised the Sti PPP BB because of noise issues and the Wrsport BB might be too loud if fitted to the PPP.

I would therefore summise that Prodrive are doing something else to the system rather than just a BB,chip, filter.

Could they be doing something to the cats? Downpipe etc?

Am I right in thinking that the 2 things that make the most difference to the loudness of a system is the, restrictive cats and the silencer.

As I said my two penneth but it makes you wonder, they may yet take us all by surprise and come up with something quite special.

If they do change the cats, that'll open up a can of worms for the OEM market systems

Hawkeye

I purchased my copy of Autocar today and it says Subaru will be offering an upgrade kit for the UK-spec STI. Power will be up by 39bhp making it 300bhp in total. The conversion will cost under £2k and will be offered later in the summer.
