thanks for the replies guys, sorry for causing an argument or at least a good solid debate. It is interesting to know about the off boost as i already knew this but didnt know how much difference it could make. I get a weird kick out of getting the most mpg i can as well so would be interesting, i wouldnt really want to boot it or have it on boost just to pootle to work and back but the reason i would like an sti is for when i do want a heavy right foot!!
Just trying to justify it in my head and i am still struggling even though i know this could be my 1 and only chance to own one!
might end up going down the leon cupra r mk1 route instead as there are a few around at half the price of a scoob (

When i visit the family 134 mile round trip i get at least 29 MPG every time

One thing I can say I bought my widetrack in Febuary
Since then done few things to it but driven
BMW m3
TTRS
Bentley cont gt
DB9
Cupra Leon r 265

Nothing compares mate if you can afford it buy one!!

If you're worried about mpg, you may want to consider the 2.5L hawkeye - it's a little more frugal than the earlier cars.

Plymouth-Northumberland 468 miles, did that run in my car on a tank and a quarter, 03 sti mapped by Martin Jeffery
