Martin: wrong again.

Cynic I may be, but I take my vote seriously and haven't missed voting in years, except for the Police Commisioner thingy.

I was talking of the young: Taking young people 18-30, I only know TWO who vote. One is my eldest son, the other the husband of a niece.

On asking the others why not, respionses range from, "Why should I? None of them will do anything for ME." to, "They are all the same, why bother, they are just interested in lining their own pockets...".

Cynic I may be, but I'm telling you what my experience is.

So I call you a cynic and I'm 'wrong again' then you call yourself a cynic! I think you need to have a lie down

they're all a bunch of worthless, moronic, money grabbing, w4nkers. **** the lot of them and i never have and never will vote for any of them.

There's people in this country living on the streets and in poverty yet they can own 2-3 homes and never actually pay for sh1te. they all make me sick.

Screw the politicians, the government and the queen, something new needs to be done.

Martin, this underhand behaviour (politician's behaviour and not yours I hasten to add) enrages decent hard working folk. It creates apathy and cynicism in the electorate as we lose all confidence in politicians. Indeed a friend of mine refuses to vote and asserts 'it only encourages the w@nkers' his words not mine.
We don't want the moon on a stick! Some honesty, integrity and a sense of fair play would be nice. Is that too much to ask in a so called democracy?

A spell in prison serves two purposes: To punish the offender and to deter other would-be offenders.

I can't find the article but she has been flagged as "putting it on", I guess time will tell and if so, it's just a matter of time before she is caught again.

I've been watching "yes minister" again, scary in that it's the same issues in the headlines now as was making satire 30 years ago...

Tel, you sound like you came in on the last banana boat.

"She's living a restricted lifestyle. She has not answered the telephone at home for approximately three years. She goes out very occasionally, to a local supermarket for 30 minutes." She also walked her dog, he said.

Some breakdown that even managing the above.

I'm guessing you wouldn't be so caring and sharing had she stolen the money directly from you?

I completely agree with the reasons for apathy. However it is all to easy to fall into the trap that makes you want to believe that ALL politicians are bad people. I totally reject this hypothesis.

The reality is politician offer us want we want to hear. Afterall who would get elected with a manifesto that offered tax rises and public service cuts, and a drop in living standards....?

We insist upon our politicians telling us what we want to hear, then when they can't deliver we call them liars and cheats. My point is, are they liars or are we deluding ourselves?

Moon on a stick? What we want to hear?

So you mean we shouldn't be surprised or upset that a lot of them have been caught stealing from us then? They would have told us they were going to if we were less judgemental about it?

I would just settle for some honesty and common sense! Until then my vote will be going nowehere. They need to earn it!
