Both have their benefits, both have their downsides. The Galaxy is fine is you don't mind carrying the table top in your "pocket."
The ideal phone does not exist, same as the ideal car...

Yes I read it, only possible on your beloved Android. Expect much more next year, you're the new PC for Malware authors.

I killed my 4S in August. The waterproof case wasn't actually so and it died.
Got a 5 after sorting insurance and was dreading setting it up again; my Android SE was a TOTAL nightmare to grab data from. Had to save everything to a file, load onto Google contacts, stick it all back on, lost all apps, etc, etc.
But with iPhone just "asked" if I wanted to use iCloud, I clicked yes, all apps, contacts, photos, everything back on my phone. ZERO hassle. It's stuff like this that I like about them. Fairly small (the ever growing size of smart phones annoys me), decent camera, nice screen, slim, decent processor, etc and it just works.
I had four Android phones and still have one; it's now used as a backup PAYG phone and training aid (it has a decent GPS programme and is waterproof). I'd not get another BUT I'm not anti Android - it has many plus points.
I cannot BELIEVE the amount of wasted guff people spout about either; it's good to have the choice IMO.

One thing I can recommend for any phone is the zagg screen protectors.
I've found a tempory fix for the echo , turn the handset speaker volume down, still not ideal but will get me by till after Xmas when it's quieter in meadowhell

Mattee, its more a misunderstanding of Android that makes it hard for you to do anything rather than that of Apple, you can do all of the above that you can do on an Apple device on an Android device and if you save your information to Google then all you have to do is log back on there and it downloads all your contacts, go to the play store and you get all your apps back, easy as pie
Tony
Tony
Log into Google, sign in, access the contacts section (very unclear), download them, realise that for some unknown reason it's decided your contacts are every single person you've ever emailed - nearly 5000 in my case - manually delete each non phone contact. Now you're getting there...
THEN download each app separately from Google Play - let's say most people have around ten.
THEN faff for ages getting all your music back.
THEN do the same with all your photos.
Oh and your videos too.
OR
Press "yes" when asked, wait a minute or so, it's all back where it should be.
I understand Android perfectly well thanks having used it for a long time. But thanks for the "help"

I've never heard such twaddle, after uprading my software with root. I signed into Google then Dropbox, all my contacts photos were there. Went to play store, this is really difficult, I pressed an icon, then downloaded all my apps. 2 minutes of my life restoring everything to a fresh upgrade

Hi all
I've removed a few posts, but I just wanted to make a little comment.
For now, I have left this thread in NSR as technically that is what it is, although with modern phones, the topic could also fall into the Computer Related category. As such, I have asked the other mods/admin to come to a definite decision about where such threads should be posted then hopefully there should be no confusion.
Personally, I think the topic can cross over and as such, I would just allow the threads to be posted in either section, but I've asked so that a decision can be made for sure either way.

It seems that in an ideal world some would prefer the CR section to become more anything technical (phones, TVs etc.), but then some, like yourself, would rather that sections were merged, then probably plenty that just don't care.
I'm not that fussy either way tbh. As it stands though, there is confusion and for the time being at least, I'm trying to get a proper answer as to where things go. I'm not sure, but I don't think sections can just be binned/renamed for some reason, so that probably complicates things.

Thing is Lisa I wouldn't mind so much if the threads were ever really about phones, but even in the rare event they are posted to make a genuine point instead they more often than not degenerate into the usual b1tchfest between the Apple and Android fans with the same people posting the same nonsense over and over again! It's boring and IMO NSR is not the place for it!

No body makes you read them f1 , the title is clearly there and easily legible for even a simpleton to understand what's inside .
I suggest you do like others do ,if it doesn't interest you don't look or comment.
This is what most adults would do

Maybe it is because I don't have a huge interest in more technical stuff, but I find it quite sad that people argue so much about it. Each to their own as to what they like, but it seems like there is a lot of hassle about basically a phone/computer device.

Thing is, whether the thread/posts are in NSR or CR, they can turn out however they do. That is to some extent down to the members. If people think the thread was created to just cause a bitchfest, they should be grown up enough to just ignore it. People purely out to troll will lose interest eventually if they don't get a reaction.
I do agree with this as a general rule, however, the only thing I would say is that sometimes a topic will interest someone enough to make them look, it is how they can at times turn out that is the problem. Which goes back to my point, ignore people just out for a reaction. Topics shouldn't need to be moved or vaped etc. because some people can't just have a discussion or agree to disagree.

The thing is Lisa he openly said a few weeks ago I was on his ignore list but still needed to post about moving the topic when he's been here long enough to know simply press the rtm button.
What ever he does protest I find It weird for someone who blocks me to post on a thread. Looks like trolling to me.
Why not just deal with the cause ?

Look,
The whole point I deleted posts on this thread and posted what I did was to get rid of the crap and explain that I was waiting on a decision from the other mods/admin regarding where these threads should be. Now a whole load more has been posted
I'm waiting on that answer at the moment, but until I get it, I ask kindly please either get this back on topic or just ignore the thread.
f1, I understand where you are coming from, but ultimately it is up to Stu where he thinks topics belong, hence why I have asked for confirmation. As for whether these types of threads are started to cause a bit of bitching, maybe they are, maybe not but by responding it just encourages them to continue. As I've said, I'm not going to ban topics just because some people may go on the wind up, just ignore it if you think that is the case.

Thing is Lisa I understand where you're coming from but it's the same culprit everytime. He has the cheek to say I'm winding people up and let's not forget his football thread (in NSR) I may add.
I do a bit of mickey taking but along with that I contribute to the forum where I see f1 just looking for arguments .

In an ideal world it would be nice if some people here could let bygones be bygones and draw a line under the past and move on. I doubt that will happen so I suggest those who don't get along just ignore each other. I honestly don't know what else to say.
