Some years ago my local restaurant closed and I bought their last two cases of 1995 Nuit St George. It is a stunning wine and every year at Christmas I blow the dust off a bottle and drink a toast to my lovely family
Turkey on Christmas day and I took out a small mortgage for a rolled sirloin for Boxing Day.

I'm over to the parents house this year, they have just moved in to a new house and wanted the family over for their first Crimbo in their new home. I'm going to struggle with it to be honest as I usually cook most of the roasts (inc Christmas/easter) Still I might supervise with a drink or ten.

Hosting it this year - my parents, us (wife and two little kids), my sister and her kids (aged 8 months and 2.5) and.... her husband who two months ago admitted to having a 1.5 year long affair.
Anyone got any tumbleweed they can spare?!

As I do most of the cooking it will be me sighs. Christmas dinner will be massive pot of home made soup 2 days worth will do boxing day as well probably lentil, carrot, turnip, leak and coriander with ham stock. Prawn cocktails followed with turkey crown, stuffing, mash with cream butter spring onion and pepper. Sprouts broccoli and cauliflower all in a cheese sauce. Trifle then slacken the belt and look forward to boxing day, home made steak pie with chunky chunks of carrot and turnip through it, served with same style of mash and plain sprouts then gateau and single cream. Mouth is watering at the thought . Then new years eve and new years day the same in reverse . But not looking forward to 2 running of the gauntlet supermarket sweeps. The cooking is the easy part.
