You need to freshen up and read the UK copyright laws. You are not allowed to make backups of any media even if you bought it.

Bloody hypocritical pirate
It's been changed recently ....

In your quote you said any media which is not technically true. Not saying you're wrong either.

Surprised that the "all pirates should get cancer" types have not turned up and commented yet

In regards to slowness of handbrake. Usually takes about 31 mins to rip a 90 min film to m4v (apple tv 3 preset). This is on 2.33GHz i7 with 4GB ram (mid 2010 27 iMac). Is that considered slow compared to the apps mentioned for, I assume, windows based OS?

My 4-year old dell intel with 4MB RAM and running vista takes 4-5 hours per film on android high MP4, Magic DVD takes about an 1-hour.

The only glitch I've had is one of the films converted to MP4 seemed to freeze on start-up on the Playbook, but if I moved it on by a few seconds it ran fine. Works okay on everything else

Similar I guess, obviously hardware will have a large input into how long it takes. Mines just a core i5 sandy o/c to 4.6ghz and MDVD takes ~ 10-15mins to rip a whole DVD at original quality. I don't convert or compress it afterwards usually, but if I do, its about another 10mins using shrink to get it on a 4.5GB DVDR. MDVD can compress it to a 4.5 DVD too, I just prefer shrink for that.

Well there is a wealth of difference between backing up a some media onto a hdd to make viewing easier than setting out to steal some ones software which is what you are advocating, that is illegal no matter what. I still stand by the fact that using software which is freeware is better than stealing some software and breaching it's EULA.

So call me a hypocrite all you like, at least mine can be used legally, your method will NEVER be legal

You are a hypocrite, don't you get it? as soon as you backup your DVD's you are breaking the law, it doesn't matter why you are doing it, or if the tools you are using are freeware, it's illegal!

Then you have the audacity to say using a piece of software past its intended trial date is the crime of the century! Unbelievable.

I didn't say it was crime of the century, but whatever, you are comfortable telling yourself.

I merely advocated using some software for free legitimately over stealing some that does exactly what the free stuff does.

Don't you think?

By your analogy, every form of theft is the same.... software and vehicle say.

There is a huge difference between breaking the encryption on a dvd so you can use it on your ipod and stealing some software with no intention of ever paying for it.

You can't argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Nope all I'm saying is any type of theft is illegal.

You can twist the "argument" all you like, its not a question of what is worst than the other. You just seem to be unable to grasp the fact that what you are doing is also illegal.

And I don't need to resort to pathetic insults to have a discussion about it.
