I enjoy flying him that's the pleasure and privilege for me of owning a hawk, whether he catches anything or not doesn't bother me. If you knew anything about the breed of hawk I own and their behaviour you would know they are like taking a dog for a walk in the countryside. I let him off and he follows me everywhere I go, it's called following on. I see him flying about enjoying himself whether it's trying to catch some food or soaring around in the wind basically playing and having fun as he dives and twists and turns and then soars back over me. That's the kick for me.

If he does catch something and I have to despatch it then I wince every time as I take no enjoyment from killing anything, despatching it is the worst part for me as i'd be happier if he could kill it instantly and save me the job. The only benefit I receive from him catching something is providing food for himself which is the best food he can eat.

I've never been hunting. I'd fall off the horse. I don't want to go hunting. I just like to see some balance which judging by the retarded posts of some on here, is not evident.

I much preferred it when you stuck to extolling the virtues of your 'soot chucking barge'. When you venture out, you invariably make yourself look extremely silly.

Witty and interesting? That would exclude you for a start. Besides we'll be the arbiters of what constitutes witty and interesting.
How can you defend hunting anyway? The controlling of vermin bollox may work were it not for the circus that surrounds a hunt. A load of Hooray Henries and Henriettas bedecked in posh frocks getting enjoyment from systematically terrorising a defenceless animal. I don't feel the need to put on my tuxedo and cuff links whilst dealing with mice. The wife doesn't have a bugle to hand when she leaves slug pellets in the garden.

It's all about class envy isn't it?

I'm not even slightly in that set but know some who are. All I see is some people getting out and about with animals with some tradition thrown in for good measure.

People wear silly clothes and shoot pheasants. Why no fuss there? People deck themselves out just to pop a few rabbits. Any harm in that? Both "victims" still suffer terribly if the shot isn't a clean one.

Anyway, off to the beach which is now one minutes walk away then maybe head out in the nice camper can.

Enjoy pointlessly frothing over your ill informed guff.

Class envy you really are delusional arent you

I hate little ******* who get enjoyment from torturing and tormenting animals even more so when they do it for sport !

If thats what the so called upper class find amusing I am more happy to be in the working class and not the toffee nosed goons who do things like this for fun

and out in your camper
hey boys I think we just found a PIKEY
no wonder you like killing animals you probably take them back to your caravan and cook the fox to feed all the local pikeys

you have not seen my wrath or came close to it

hey you pikeys are rolling in cash from all the driveways you tarmac and dont pay any tax on the profits not to mention all the copper and other metals you lot pinch from building sites late at night.

missed a bit of this, but for pest control on free range issues, shoot the foxes dead on the spot,

and you know what i still cant get over, that a free range area for birds cant be kept secure from foxes?? really? we can put a man on the moon, accelerate particles to near light speed, creat vaccines for illnesses but we cant build a fox proof area. fair enough if these free range birds roam through forest land ect, but if just out in aopen flat area then fox proof it - surely?

what am i missing?

Regardless of the fact that foxes are regarded as vermin, they are part of the balance of nature after all.

I personally don't like to think of a fox being torn apart by the hounds, I just don't support such a cruel way to kill them.

Nothing wrong with the hunt having a good ride around the countryside but I cannot imagine why they should get a thrill out of the awful death for the fox. Stick to following a laid down scent I say!

You could keep a fox out and chickens in by building a brick wall all along the hedge, but that obviously isn't going to happen, not to mention planning permission for a wall.

Nearly all free range farms like ours is protected by electric fencing or electric netting. Each field is secured with electric fencing going all the way round the edge against the hedge. It does a great job to be honest with you, but a fox can still quickly nip through if the bugger has a chicken in sight, especially if it hasn't been shocked before/learnt from a shock.

If he keeps fowl and the fox keeps killing them, then I have no doubt that he would want just that.

We have several foxes living around my area and the farmers who keep cows etc, are not bothered about them.

If they wanted them dead they would take them out with their shotguns which is at least a far more humane way to despatch them don't you think?

I think a lot of those who ride to hounds actually get a thrill at seeing the results of a kill by the hounds. Not my style I can assure you. Bloodthirsty lot!
