New year, new dump valve thread... Although to be fair, new hour, new dump valve thread lol.

As has been said, some people like them, many don't. I have had an HKS on my highly tuned WRX blobeye and never had a problem. If you do want one, don't buy cheap!

All I was looking for was advise on dump valves as this is my first scooby I don't see why I didn't have just one post saying about the way I was writing I didn't need sarcasm that isn't the way to make someone to want to carry on posting on a site like this. Can you see where I am coming from? I know I shouldn't have took the bait but honestly why some people go about things the way they do cracks me up!!!!

Also the way people are referring to me as a 8year old or a 12year old is funny as you don't know me and to be honest you are worse than me for carrying this on as I have said time and time again it would of taken one post to say please write your posts with correct English that is all I have to say on this thread as I'm not going to post on this again as is just a waste of time. I will say thank you again to the people that have given me helpfully advise and links

An helpful opinion may be don't buy a dump valve... Would you accept that?

Maybe not...

...However typing 'DV' into the search function on SN.. not Google, this came up:

'If you have a vent to atmosphere dumpvalve, then you lose all that air all together, but the turbo hasn't been stalled therefore can create boost quite quickly again. The negative effects of this are that the car still thinks there's air in the system and so therefore overfuels'

That was taken from this thread: https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...-question.html

Ahh - So you get a sound but can cause problems, which can be fixed by a map... Can you afford a map?

Maybe...

...However taken from the same thread...

'If you block off the dumpvalve, you leave the air in the intercooler/pipework, which would mean there's air available for when you next open the throttle after lifting off/changing gear etc. But you could potentially stall the turbo as it has no where to push the air? Thus slowing the spool, but which is compensated by the air in the pipework already'

...Blanking off the DV from the intercooler, another option for you there. But what does that do for you? Well you could use that for performance gains, but potentially can damage your turbo... Can you afford another turbo and map?

Maybe... However there is a third option here...

... Taken from the same thread...

'If you have a recirc valve, then you get a mix of both'

... Hold on a second ... A mix of both? So you get a performance gain and the grand cost of nothing to leave the standard recirc valve on. You don't need a remap and you wont damage your turbo and over fuel your engine...

... To summarise. Buy a VTA dump valve because you want one and that is all you want to hear. Simple and helpful.

Does it make any noise? If so, then yes it is a vent to atmosphere type (VTA).

You'll be able to tell by looking at it, if its a sealed up unit, with pipework coming from it and no other holes/ports/trumpets then its a re-circ type, if it has holes/makes noise, its VTA.

I resisted posting on this thread but I can't hold it in any longer lol.

I had an adjustable Go Faster Bits (WRX Stealth FX) dump valve on my Blobeye and I have to say I loved it!

There was an ability to adjust both the loudness of the noise it made and how readily it vented to atmosphere.

If you lowered the threshold I found that the car had something of a stutter inbetween gears as if the turbo had to return to boost again whereas if the threshold was increased to its maximum I genuinely felt the car had more of a pull and no lag inbetween gearchanges.

When I was in the mood, either out in the sticks or I just felt like making some noise on the way to work in the morning I'd just crank the volume up and pish a few people off for jokes. I'd giggle away as people would look disapprovingly of my bright blue monster as it growled and hissed its way through traffic. I kind of wish I'd taken it back off and kept it after I sold the car, though I guess I still have an OEM dump valve lying around somewhere... may come in useful one day!

Yes it does make a noise it has one pipe going on the bottom going to inter cooler pipe work and small pipe on top half way up the DV is a ring of holes sound like its a vta then!! On the top is a adjuster screw is this to increase:decrease the threshold?
