Dogs are free in the back garden so don't have the problem there anymore, they seem to have moved to a garden that backs onto ours now but odd one still walks along the side fence to get there until the dogs spot it and go tearing across and launch themselves at the fence, at which point the cats **** themselves and scarper.

I was in a bad mood last night but I still can't be bothered with cats lol, I'm not sure how a domestic cat is semi wild? Surely a dog is semi wild as well then?
It's not very nice when you're dog actually does get hold of a cat infact it's awful, had this a few times over the years where I live when we used to keep lurchers and saluki's (live in the countryside) funnily enough the owners were always understanding in a strange way as yes the dogs were off the lead but the cats were out hunting in the fields etc as well so there's not much you can do about it.

I'd have to tear up my engineering degree if I did that...all 12v DC would do is make the battery and wiring melt/catch fire.
Electric fence power supply on the other hand may work...depends on how the urine atomises when they "spray". If its a fine mist it won't work, but if its a stream of large droplets it will give their **** a good zap (and no I've never tried pissing on a electric fence...I've already seen the you-tube clips ),
< pedantic > I'd also need to strip the paint off for conductivity
