That's what was so good about GS1, it was relatable to the roots of the Subaru Impreza....

What they have made here is just a generic track racer, which bears no relation to what we all loved about Subaru.....IMO of course

In the looks department it dont look bad,but its not a patch on the first car imho, and from what ive heard on the vine the clark brothers expect the new car will out perform the old one on track, that i cant wait to see.

But they've been there and done that, got the tshirt and silverware to prove it.

Trouble is, people don't like change or accept that the game needs to move on. Why be stuck in the past building a car on a body style that's 20 years old?

Now it's time to showcase what RCM are "Really" capable of. This car is an engineering masterpiece, a design engineering showcase, and all the better for it. It makes GS1 look like it was built by a man in a shed.
Yes... I've just referenced the 2nd greatest Impreza ever built to a "man in a shed build".
These cars are the very reason people pay RCM money for RCM builds.

RCM are unmistakably ahead of the game, cars built to this level keep them there.

I know many still love the Classic GC8 (including me) but Frayz is 100% correct. RCM could have built GS2 as a classic with the advanced engineering of the actual GS2 but they need to move with the times.

As many know my P1 is RCM built and so many guys in the passenger seat say to me that when they rag there own modified Scoob they are listening for strange noises, monitoring smells, living in the gauges, worrying about things failing, blowing motors. I can honestly say I NEVER worry about anything like that and that is worth 5 grand alone when you think about it.

I've had a refresh now but of the 47,000 miles (23,000 on 20% Meths) on the original engine the only failure was a map sensor at Silverstone. It will do just shy of 200mph at 8 grand in 6th and still beats most things I come up against.

Nordschleife (The Ring) is now recognised as the benchmark for all tests of performance cars period.
I know 100% it will lap The Ring in mid 7's due to studying onboard data from other machines and comparing my speeds at certain points of the track, but I just need to learn the last 6 of the 13.7 miles to do it.

Roger Clark Motorsport are the real deal.

Again having seen it earlier on and now, fantastic engineering. Can't wait to see the final engine build in situ..........

I think there be a different front spoiler aswell,as Frayz said this is a proper race car,the balance of the car will be better, the difference between the two cars is amazing, the old car looks very primitive compared to the new car.

The engine will be a shock to everyone thats for sure and as I have said to Matt the old car looks now that it was built in a back street garage and the new car built in a futuristic factory.....the gap between the 2 cars is that big.....plus the fact that I've got that much polish on the new car the drag factor will be zero

The most wins were achieved with the classic '22b' shape S5/6 car, but ultimately the late Blobeye & Hawkeye S11/12 cars are the greatest in terms of technology & engineering..... just a shame Subaru pulled the plug on the development budget in 2005, so Prodrive were unable to fulfill the true potential of the S12 in terms of WRC success

These were "factory" though, whereas the gobstopper would be "privateer" would it not?

yes its built by rcm and not to any restrictions like the wrc cars.

the old wrc rules were 300 bhp and 2.0 engines i think.

not sure what time attack rules are but they will be vastly different to wrc rules.

no idea what the rcm car will be bhp wise but i would think 700 plus.

it really is an awesome car to see up close, most if not all of the panels are custom built.

It makes you wonder really. If the panels aren't original, the internals won't be and I'd imagine the chassis modified it would make you wonder why use the hatch as a base in the first place.
On another note, was the gobstopper originally a 22b, p1 or TypeR?.

i think they used the hatch to promote there business, the have already built a classic version.

rcm make there money selling parts and modding and servicing imprezas so they have to cater for the hatch too.

Indeed, however the question was 'which is the greatest Impreza ever built?'
No mention of 'factory' or 'privite' there

Have you never seen an Impreza WRC car then?
I wouldn't be surprised if similar money was spent on the GS2.... I wonder where it came from
