i think they used the hatch to promote there business, the have already built a classic version.
rcm make there money selling parts and modding and servicing imprezas so they have to cater for the hatch too.
Am I right in thinking new-ages were about for 10 years at least before the hatch?. I can't think there are that many hatch owners compared to new age owners to supply parts too.

newage run from about 99 to 07 i.e. bug blob and hawk.
then from 07 its the hatch, im sure they sell a lot of parts to hatch owners as the engines etc are still very similar, but agreed there probably arent as many hatch owners as newage cars but i guess the wider group they appeal too is good for business.

The Newage car came 7 years before the hatch, and you're right there are not many hatch owners to supply parts to....
That's why they've dropped a big bollock by using it as a base for the GS2 IMO.... a missed opportunity for sure

As has been said the Hawk in the middle is the Team Ice drag car,its brand new and I think its for sale,it runs approx 700bhp and is based on a Spec C shell.
Nobody is slagging off RCM. All that is being said is that if the gobstopper is used to promote the parts RCM sell then it makes no sense there was never a new age one.

I'm sure it's a master piece.
I personally think RCM build customer cars to sell parts, lots of newage RCM big builds get posted up, basically they are a mail order parts site. If they wanted to do lots of builds etc then they would have more mechanics, Matt normally does the service on my car his self . You normally have to wait 6 months just to get your car booked in for a full RCM transformation!
They build the TA cars to show off their skills, quality and the fact they have racing in their blood! Why build a car that lots of other people have already done? Where is the challenge in that?

Hand on heart do you think they could have done something spectacular with the BRZ? Will there be more BRZ's on the road in a few years than Hatch Impreza's?
yes fully agree but this car was started 2-3 years ago, they have a BRZ test car and I am sure the way subaru are going it will be the only car that sells in the UK.
RCM hardly advertise anywhere and if they do it's probably free.
GS1 & GS2 are RCM's advertising. GS2 is nothing about advertising parts they sell as most parts are bespoke.
They are largely a supplier of quality products and as F1 CJE UK rightly says they will take on builds under the supervision of MC. This is why RCM is not full of mechanics.
They built GS1 & GS2 because they can, and as a statement to others.
For the younger folk reading this you may not be aware that their Father was also a genius in his day, and rated by many as a guy years ahead of his time.
As for what model should have been used, unless you import a WRX or STi you wont be seeing many anyway as Subaru UK are stopping all UK exporting of these models.
