What sort of roads are you going to drive on mainly, and what type of driving? And when you talk about speed, do you mean acceleration or speed through the bends?
I'd say go for the P1 if you just want a manic fast car for the twisties that you can still live with day to day. I'd also recommend test-driving a Boxster, they are very quick on the twisty stuff. You may be able to get a Boxster S for just over your budget, if not try the 2.7 litre standard Boxster. I haven't experienced an Exige, but Elise's are bad in the wet, so definitely watch out for that if you test drive one. If you can relax your "nearly new" preference, a 911 would be a great choice IMO.

hi Jamie
I was recently looking at new cars...
Ended up with the scooby.. but test drove the TT..
Quite fast... more manic than the scooby at slow speeds... the turbo is much more rushy.
The brakes were far too servoed.. no feel.. no room to judge... 1.8 shows lack of torque..
After buying the scooby... if I had had another 10k to spend... would consider the BMer 330d or petrol version... BUT only if I had another RAW car like an elise...
P1 would be top of the list for a one -car situation. or maybe an EVO6.. na.. P1
i dont like the look of the M coupe... though i bet its fun to drive.
maybe a TVR if 2 seats will do?

Only one word for you if you are serious about performance (as in accelleration, grip, handling, feedback, etc etc): EXIGE.
As far as luxuries go it has A/c ...what more do you need?

Oh, and if the budget doesn't stretch that far then I'd say a late Hi-po Elise, 111S or Sport160.
If you must carry 4 people then EvoVII seems the choice to make, although the BMs 330 (diesel and petrol) are nice Q-cars. I have a 330 petrol ..... but I always take the 111S unless it's a seriously long/rainy/icy freeway trip.

The roads I drive on are mainly to and from work and motorways through the week, and twisties at the weekend, so I want the best of both worlds really. Id like to have a car which is fast through the bends and accelerating, and it would be better to be able to seat 4-5 ppl in comfort, but still look like a bit of flash!
I dont like the M Coupe either, too hatch backy, EVo dont like it either. I like the BMW 3 series though, and as Ive said the EVO 7. A TVR wouldnt be any good because I need my car to work, and the Porsche too expensive to service and too far to travel to my nearest garage.
I dont mind rawness in a car though, as long as I have some creature comforts and the cars performance lives up to the rawness.
I think I will go for something like the EVO, or the BM or maybe the new WRX special edition when we get some details on it!
