After a bit of searching I've found the answer....
You had a large person at the party.... While taking a dump they realised they 'came on' and soiled their panies quite heavily....
They washed them out in the sink but needed to hide them while they dried.
Forgettiing to pick them up on their way out only for your wife to find them.
And the reason your wife knows your not playing away is that there is no way on earth you would go with a whale!
