I have been using these for 3-4 months now, 60-70 miles a week and still like new. Been using them in the snow and rain and they keep your feet a lot warmer than road bike shoes

You need the pedals (on the spinning bike), the shoes and then the correct cleats which screw onto the soles of the shoes. SPD-SL are not the same as just SPD (I don't think). I'd ask at the gym to make sure what type they have. Cleats are about £15. Our gym has both bikes with straps and bikes with SPD pedals. I'd be surprised if your gym ONLY has SPD pedals on their bikes as it restricts who can use them.

Just went to Evans - very expensive shop!
£53 for the boots (not in stock) and £15 for the cleats.. SPD - SL are the ones i require..

Just to enrage the cyclists, if you have SPD pedals then you are probably cycling illegally. Lighting regulations state that you MUST have a reflector to the front and back of both pedals, and as I have never seen a set of SPD's on the road with reflectors, then I guess that they are all breaking the law. Not that the law means anything to the average cyclist !
