I don fancy taking the risk, for £150 quid I might as well get them done.
I plan on keeping the car another year or so anyway.

You seem to have resigned yourself to the fact its definatly bearings without checking the car. There are so many things it could be Yes bearings, worn pads, seized caliper, diff, tyres and more.

To add while the drive shaft nuts are tight there will not be any play in the bearings at all so the wheel wont move even if there worn. Slacken of the nut a couple of turns then check for play

Id wait till youve diagnosed it properly

I'd run with it for a while , and yes a wheel will wobble when the bearing has gone
As I can confirm when I changed my hub Christmas Eve

If I took it to somewhere like scooby clinic or another specialist , could they know a bit more than me if they took it for a drive?

pop into scoobyclinic , they'll tell you
( I'd strongly advise after the snow though )
Make it a weekend and maybe pop up when there's a get together

I had the same type of noise coming from the back of my bugeye wrx. Turned out my tyres were the cause. Uneven wear due to knackered rear shocks.

Right guys, i think iv found it...
I couldn't tell at first but the noise has now got worse, and when I now swerve right ... It stops

So does that mean its the rear passenger bearings?

Cheers everyone

Without seeing or hearing it mate there's no way to tell which side it really is
Some worn
bearings will make more noise under load some will make less
The longer it goes the more obvious it becomes , but be very wary about letting it go too far
Try and get a second opinion snd If you're still sure it is bearing
Change the one you suspect the most , if you've got it wrong do the other side
Worst case scenario is you've got 2 new rear bearings ( no bad thing )
Because if one sides gone the other sides gonna be on its way

Go as slow as poss
Jack it up and check the nut is still tight before you move

Right!.... Job done, it wasn't the passenger side after all ,but the drivers side.
Cost me £85 supplied and fitted, the bearing had tried to weld itself to the hub, so had to take the hub off and outcame the lump hammer and blowtorch to get it off . The guy at the garage said I was lucky the wheel was still turning lol.

Anyway cheers for the comments and help everyone..
And do you know when the next meet is at the clinic Tony ?
Cheers

Glad your sorted mate , it is a little risky running a suspect bearing for as long as you can , but it does certainly help pin it down

Not sure mate , I'm sure it won't be long ( as soon as the weather gets better )
I'll let you know
