So that would be more than an MP when all deductions are taken into account. I don't think so.

Your attitude is pretty selfish I reckon. If you had to suffer with MS I am sure you would think differently.

Could well be true, I know someone who actually gets more than that to pay carers to help with a daughter she adopted who is very disabled. Now, it's all well and good paying this sort of money when it is needed but the girl in question is from Belarus and she agreed to fund all of her care herself before she was granted permission to stay in the UK. This happened til her wealthy partner died 2 years ago. Her care is now funded by the state ie you and me to the tune of around £6k a month as she needs care pretty much 24 hours a day. They also funded a minibus type of vehicle with a hydraulic lift in it as well. Really, really pisses me off.

Not quite sure how you came to that conclusion. He has basically got himself a heavily discounted car for no reason. He has no mobility issues as he is in the very early stages, still has his sales job, regularly travels on public transport. One day, yes, he may need it, but right now he's just as fit as the average bloke.

but there is a difference between someone getting an allowance and the cost of “care”

a two week stay in hospital probably costs well over 6k a week

saw this on a friends facebook this is quality, hope he got the letter.
Dear Mr. Cameron,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing the UK ‘s economy.

Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.
Ten million job openings – unemployment fixed

2) They MUST buy a new British car.
Ten million cars ordered – Car Industry fixed

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed

4) They MUST send their children and grandchildren to school/college/university -
Crime rate fixed

5) They MUST buy £100 WORTH of alcohol and tobacco a week …..
And there’s your money back in duty/tax etc

It can’t get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances

If you think this would work, please tell George Osborne to implement it immediately.

Also………..

Put pensioners like me in jail and the criminals in nursing homes or geriatric hospital wards.

This way the pensioners would have…………….

Access to showers, hobbies and companionship.

They’d receive unlimited free dental and medical treatment, wheelchairs etc. and they’d receive money instead of paying it out.

They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly, if they fell, or needed assistance.

Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.

A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring meals and snacks to their cell.

They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.

They would have access to a library, gym, spiritual counselling, swimming pool and adult education.

Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ’s and legal aid would be free, on request.

Private, secure rooms, with an outdoor exercise yard, and gardens.

Each OAP would have a PC, a TV, radio and daily phone calls.

There would be a ‘board of directors’ to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

On the other hand………………………………..

The criminals would get cold food, be left alone and unsupervised for most of the time. Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week. Live in a tiny room in a nursing home and pay £600.00 per week, and have no hope of ever getting out.

Isn’t that fair exchange?
Think about this (another point of contention):

COWS
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that, during the mad cow epidemic, our brilliant Civil Service could track a single cow, born in Appleby almost three years previously, right to the stall where she slept in the county of Cumbria? – they even tracked her calves to their stalls!

But they are apparently unable to locate any of the (estimated) 430,000 illegal immigrants wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

That’s all for now, Mr. Cameron.

I will be really glad if you can spare the time to comment on my suggestions

I'm guessing the 'poster' doesn't really understand economics...

The big flaws in this great plan would be hyper inflation devaluing everything and very high interest rates, which would in-turn destroy peoples property prices. It would mean printing £10 Trillion (6 times the size of our economy). It would destroy all saving, devastate the value of the pound, and impoverish the 50 million who were not fortunate enough to be over 50. That said if the hold out for 5 years then I might change my view.

You did not make that absolutely clear in your first post.

Well you can maybe make yourself feel better about his situation when you consider that he has not got very much to look forward to.
