ive always taken TG for what it is - sh*te light entertainment on a sunday night.
the three presenters id tolerate, even laugh along with at times!
but hearing the same rants over endless new cars, no new techniques - its dying a death - not one even raises a corner mouth smile.
saying that if they brought on 3 new pr*cks - id probably hate them also.
sorry lose - lose TG

its getting to the point where I don't want to watch the next series/episode anymore.......but i always do and then kick myself at the end.
Why do i watch TG? because other than fifth gear (which tbf I do like) what else is there on telly that is car related.....?
I just wish they would do the following and it would be spot on (imho of course)
Drop the star in the car thing
Drop the OTT comedy/cheese/blatant 'staged' incidents
Maybe tone down the video editing (to much slow motion/funky effects)
Drop the general chit chat and non car related chat/bickering.
Drop the destroying caravans, racing combine harvesters, engine food processor, car football.
All the above is just my opinion.
I love the fact that they show cars that lets be honest the majority on this forum couldn't afford.
Maybe a bit more about older cars would be good to.
My elderly mother in law loves Top Gear, I think that says it all about what the programme has sadly become

If you hate it so much then the question remains why watch it? I hate soaps, their poorly acted and unless i needed to find something depressing to push me over the edge id never watch them...jesus.

Lmao! Wow some of you lot need to lighten up and realise that without all the banter and pratting about the show would be about as interesting to watch as the old pools results that used to shown on the afternoon tv many years ago...or fith gear...which trys so hard to be funny i actually feel bad for them.

The format is just about bang on IMO, exotic cars and speed for petrol heads with some lighthearted banter thrown in.
If they dropped the current format and started reviewing Civic deisels and the latest base model Mondeo from Ford, ratings would drop quicker than Katie Price's knickers!.....as it is, their format works, well....for most of us.

Car bores just don't get it. You can be into cars without being a dullard.

I expect its getting to its natural end soon,
To be honest, i suppose its a bit of light entertainment, but i wouldn't go out of my way to watch it.
Perhaps a new presenter might freshen it up, or make it half an hour instead of an hour.

Why? because it's a pointless post and one of hundreds of TG posts that always end up the same way. probably no need for the insult but I see where he's coming from
No it wasn't crap, you didn't like it, there is a difference. Each to their own, don't watch if you don't like!

Interesting that most people think it has outstayed it's welcome - it is about 3 year past its sell-by-date, it's tired now.
That said, like a gambler, I return to it hoping things will improve - they don't - they are devoid of any ideas for a new show.
Some say if it ain't broke - don't fix it ..... I disagree, I think it IS broken now and time for a change.
What about putting a Civic Diesel up against a Scooby Turbo and see the neck snapping 340Nm of torque in the Civic rip the road up ..... the Scooby taking up the rear.
Seriously, get May to do a sensible piece on a car we all can buy. Hamster can do a faster car, maybe evn an exotic. Clarkson can just weld an outboard engine to a caravan and attempt to sail across the River Severn (hopefully he will sink without trace!)

Read my previous posts on the matter. I'd rather sit on a bench in the local park watching a dog **** dry in the wind.

Boring
One new car, two old that have both been tested on TG before, and NOTHING else I can cope with SIARPC if it is sandwiched between two great articles, but there was nothing but them three enjoying a holiday
Last week was OK, the P45 should have had half the time, and the Bentley rallying section was a bit lame and could have been 2-3 mins shorter freeing up space for something else.
Given that they've had nearly a year off, they seem to have failed to find the old magic and are slipping back into a well ploughed rut

I did enjoy last weeks. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than this weeks tired road-trip format.
Just for Dunk, only post on SNet if you are happy about something and have no issues with it whatsoever If people aren't told something is bad, how do they know they need to improve/change it Clarkson has commented on response to the show on forums and social media sites, so they are taking notice, even if they're not acting on it

They are obviously doing something right. This has been the format for quite some time now and it must be pulling in the viewers, otherwise they would have changed it. That may/will result in some people disliking the show and what it has become, but whilst it remains popular, and probably has more widespread appeal, it'll keep going this way imo.
That said, the 'haters' really aren't helping themselves. Watch it every week, even though they hate the current format, perhaps in some vein hope that it will magically change, all the time these very people will keep the ratings up. I like it how it is, but for those who don't (and I don't know if you would be enough in numbers) you would be better off not tuning in at all.
If nothing else, it would mean those of us that enjoy the show wouldn't have to see the same old moans every Sunday night
