I beg to differ that he knows his stuff, paying 7k(if that's what you got for it) for a non forged stock gearbox classic STI....but if he's happy that's all that could counts.

I'm happy to have been proven wrong (my cars value has just gone up) less so being called an idiot. Strange though that the car sells as soon as it's removed from sale, how does that work?

Hey Matty, nice car and build, did a member on here buy it?

You WILL miss a car as nice as that, especially when you stand back and think "wow nice kitchen, wow nice bahroom, it was worth selling my ... oh bugger no it wasent..." you'll miss your man time in the scooby, I bet you have an RA by 3 months or so from now! you could always get the kitchen next year!

It was removed from here and placed on piston heads. Had three calls within as many hours.
Guy viewed next day, paid for it and collected following day.

If it was overpriced as you say then why did it sell so quick (sold for £6900 fyi)
Its not as if the market is short on imprezas so if mine was so overpriced why didn't it stick out like a sore thumb and get ignored by everybody. I ended up recieving approx 10 calls for the car, why would that be. Every potential buyer has the ability to compare my car (and price) with the other 1000 imprezas that are for sale at the moment remember.

Ok stock box, yep fair coment. Was a later 754 box and more than happy at the power, plus I threw in a perfectly good spare just in case.
Stock motor, from a spec C though. Even you know that isn't close to its limit at 400, especially considering it was less than 20K old.

End of the day we will never agree but its sold so lets leave it there. Thank you for the debate.
Now just gotta find a stock early RA which is going to be a really tough challenge :-)

Doesn't suprise me TBH

This whole myth about Subaru's being worth peanuts makes me laugh.

Yes there are a lot of cheap ones out there.... mostly because they are dogs.

And the fact that there are so many cheap dogs out there means that if you have a good one buyers WILL pay decent money.

I speak to a lot of people buying and selling these cars, and hear the above all the time.

Thanks Moley.

On another note, need to speak to you about canceling my insurance. I'll give you a bell on monday to see what you can do.

lol i totally agree, i doubt it went for £7k tbh it's easy enough to say it did on an open forum without providing proof. The guy that bought it must of had more money than sense or a rich mom and dad, because there's no way anyone who knew about these cars would of paid £7k for a v3 sti without at least a 6 speed box.

I've had a spec c engine in my blob before i pulled it out, does that mean if i put it back in it's worth £25k

Out of curiousity how old was the guy that bought it 17

I think my comment of idiot was a fair one after the above post......

No didn't sell for 7K, £6900 actually.
No the chap wasn't 17, was in his thirties and had looked at other imprezas before finding mine.
No your blob with spec c engine isn't worth 25K, I mean come on who the hell wants a blob. Its hardly a drivers car is it so wouldn't appeal to someone looking for a sunday afternoon toy.

I'll go back to a point I made earlier. Potential buyers have every opportunity to compare cars, specs and prices. If a car is overpriced then it would be obvious to see as there are literally hundreds of imprezas out there for sale. If like you say my car was overpriced why did it stir up so much interest so quickly. The chap who finally bought it was not a fool, quite the opposite infact.
Have a look at the current market for classic imprezas. Find me one with a better spec and in better condition for less money.

Well I would like to know why you quoted on my post as an idiot? As I never said owt about the price of your car, just commented on the irony of your replys when you asked for advice/comments.

You have just shown yourself to be THE idiot yourself! And just cried at anyone and everyone .

To be honest moobs my comment of an idiot at you was an unfair one. I was wound up by the 'wannabe know it alls' and just expected you to carry on where they left off.
I apologise to you however there have been a few idiots quote on this thread who think they know the current market but in reality, know **** all.

To throw another spanner in the works, the buyer actually spoke to Alan at ET for his opinion. He advised the customer to buy my car as it met his needs.

Its sold and gone and the £6900 is safely in the bank so lets stop.

Thanks Dan. As one of the few people to have actually seen the car in its current state I value your comments over everyones. It was actaully cleaner than it was when you last saw it infact as I had a couple of niggly bits put right. I am 100% certain it was the cleanest classic currently for sale under 10grand.
For anybody looking for a genuine 400bhp mint classic with the best available brakes and fantastic suspension setup my car was a no brainer and worth every penny of £6900.
If I did so well with the price why do I feel so sad its gone.

i bet you get a new one within a few months.
your like me, love tinkering with it in the summer.
not only the condition but documented history from zen etc is what enthusiasts look for, no six speed box was a slight downer but a rust free shell is great as the cost of sorting and painting rear arches properly would be as costly as a new box.

anyway the thread is pretty pointless now as the car sold for the asking price (nearly).

Thats exactly it Dan, actually enjoyed the tinkering bit more than the driving bit. Strange or what hey.
Want to find a very very early RA that needs alot of TLC to keep me busy.

Ouch.... LOL....nice one. I had 3 classics then a blob STI, back in a classic that even with it being a lowly Turbo 2000 is better than the blob for what I want from it. I know the blob is the better built car etc. etc. but I never got on with it ... tried, but it never happened! It just never 'felt' like the classics did!

P.S. Congrats on the sale

My thoughts exactly. Had a JDM blob STI through my hands briefly, utterly boring. Comfy though if thats what people go for these days.

Yep, have to agree with the above comments, blobs are a nice quick comfy daily, but hardly a seat of the pants driving experience.

I also think that matty will be in a scoob again by summer or at least under one.

They are just two very different cars which means comparing the prices between the two is crazy. A classic appeals to a different kind of buyer. *
I know id enjoy a 7K classic more than a 7K blob thats for sure.

Just to put everyone's minds at rest Matty why don't you post of pic up of his receipt? Surely you did this when selling the car? Ie one for you and him with address's, reg, sale amount, date and time?

That's an easy way of silencing things obviously hide his name and address

Yes ofcourse receipts were written out, but I hardly think a hand written receipt will prove the doubters wrong on here. Maybe I could post up of my recent bank statement but even that wouldn't be enough for some idiots.
And with all due respect i really couldn't give a **** now as the car is sold. The main reason I got wound up was because negative comments like in this thread can be very damaging. Im sure a certain someone had his mind swayed after reading this thread. A chap from here contacted me shortly after the advert went on and wanted to view, however I didn't hear anymore after the posts started flowing in this thread.
