I dont get these people complaining that its "disgusting" that there is horsemeat in any of these value products. I'd be more disgusted about the non-meat side of things that the manufactures WILLINGLY disclose ! There is some pure sheyt in that stuff that they happily munch on yet they are disgusted to hear its meat from a different animal.

Also wonder where the hell are all the horses comming from ? I assume that cows are bred and herded in large numbers for meat , so is there somewhere doing this with horses ! I know the Tescos was DNA which could be the odd pony chucked in the mix , but Findus is 100% horse ! Allough there probably isnt much meat in their products as is .

commercial greed is the cause of all this.
tesco etc shaft the supplier on price (findus etc)
findus etc in turn shaft thier supplier who in order to make a profit has no choice but to source meat from dodgy suppliers .

If people want to eat processed food that is up to them but eating it then being surprised that it is full of unidentifiable **** is stupidity. The vats mixing the fillers with the horses intestines probably get **** in on a regular basis and it would appear that the companies involved in buying that **** have no quality testing whatsoever. If you eat that rubbish be assured that you have eaten some polish or Romanian guys **** at some point in your life.

yep the point is not that this crap contains horse

the point actually is no one seems to know what is in the food, when you buy this cheap rubbish.

I would not feed that <insert any pre-processed food> stuff to my cat let alone my children

i think dog and cat food gets more rigourous quality control (and i am not joking)

Was talking to my grandad and grandma, it used to be eaten during the war, I don't like being lied to but realistically, like Luan says if you eat stuff like that what were you expecting, I don't get precious about it, try and eat well but my stomach doesn't know the difference between cow and horse, I don't think that many people are losing sleep over nibbling a pony but nobody likes being taken for a dick in the name of profit, the need to sell Horse as an alternative so people can make a choice. I think some are squeamish about knowingly eating horse but I don't see it any different to eating Beef, if that upsets you go vegitarian.

There is so much processed, chemical laden crap marketed as food today ( and drinks as well - look at the ingridients in coke/cola) that its no surprise cancer rates are still high.

I never used to concern myself or even consider ingredients in food but i have started to take an interest over the last few years and since avoiding the crap-laden processed stuff as much as possible, my general wellbeing has improved lots and just feel generally healthier as well as looking it.

the point is Jacko -- you have Romanian criminal gangs chucking what ever they find lying around the place into food, and then selling it to people who but this sh1te

I suppose the vision people have of "horse" is that noble stallion in some Stub's painting

Okay -- but I suspect the Romanian criminal gangs don't quite see it that way, and I doubt they trawl Europe looking for ex racing horses to use

I'm suprised their products actually contained meat of any description!

This from the news about how many people are involved in a simple trade:

"Hamon said a Luxembourg factory had been supplied by the French firm Poujol, which had bought the meat frozen from a Cypriot trader, who in turn sub-contracted the order to a Dutch trader supplied by a Romanian abattoir"

Lots of room for deception there ...
