Seems like it's been happening on Scottish scoobies aswell with same user name, sorry if this is the same thread. I for one do not see the point in selling something if the item is damaged/cracked/broken/marked or "knocking" its always going to come back to haunt you if you are not honest, buyers want to buy hassle free and same applies to sellers .

Im seriously sick of you B****** moaning!
Its obvious no one ever complains about when its all going well. However even if your car plays up a year after purchase, its always back to "ohh that dealer stuffed us he knew". Well a STI being mapped with exhaust and up rated virtually everything its bound to stop ticking as smooth as it normally does especially when you drive them like a bunch of C****. If you buy a second hand car modified please expect to bump into the odd problem here and there. However engines on classics have always been temperamental. Even the 2.5 Hawkeye had its ongoing problems. As for getting a Refund i think your very lucky. As i would most certainly ask you to Jog on as it was obvious you where trying to Impress your friends and no doubt your FAT Bird with a stubble.![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
Well who ever said excitement was cheap. As for official breakers not even they give guarantee and if they do you need to provide VAT invoices and proof of the work being carried out at a reputable garage. Otherwise invalidates the guarantee you did have.
Well i guess months and months and for some years and years of looking at cars on the internet and SPEC details must give you poor chaps some BIG OLD BLISTERS. Especially if you've run out of your mate KY or Vaseline!!![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
As the excitement ends when you part with your Pennies you must obviously find you where having far more fun in your bedrooms with the PICS AND SPEC details.
I suggest you stick to the bedroom and the pics if you cant come to terms with parting with any money.
To All the Genuine Top guys on here please don't be offended as none of the above refers to you and you all no who you are!! This msg is only to the genuine tyre kickers/ time wasters/ dreamers/ and want it all for nothing guys!
Thanks
A.T

So In this thread:
One person from here bought some headers which by the time they got to the buyer and inspected were cracked?
Seller eventually due to a breakdown in communication and an irate buyer gets a refund.
Person number two had bought a 14 year old scooby. Seller says it has a loose heat shield which causes a 'rattle'. Buyer buys the car knowing the car has this 'rattle' Car subsequently fails with big end knock after purchase. Seller gives buyer large % of purchase price back to buyer and has the car back.
With person one I think this was an honest mistake and the seller either did not check the goods before posting to check for cracks or the damage happened by the postage system. Either way you got a refund eventually.
With person two as others have said you are very lucky to get money back at all. It may well have had the heat shield rattle but the big end could have gone at any time. If you had any doubts about the car you should have walked away, there are plenty of them about.
I am not defending the seller or the buyers on this thread as they both have there faults, just pointing out my observations. Just chalk it down to experience and move on.

So in summary:
Guy buy's headers that turn out to be cracked; end result = refund.
Guy buy's car, 20 or hundred miles later, bottom end gone; end result = refund.
Now one could argue that the seller was a little slow in refunding, but to be fair he is a busy lad running a business, never dodged a call and said all along that he would solve the problem, and true to his word he has, the buyer ended up out of pocket, through no fault of his own, which again to be fair should not happen, so with regards that situation, i understand the OP being a little dis-gruntled.
So why the **** agree to it over the phone then post complaining.![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
And to Maks i'd say make sure you check stuff properly before you send it out in future.![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
As for the knocking bottom end, if you bought a car off me that was fine when i sold it and 20/100 miles later it was knocking like a good un, i'd tell you to sling your hook as would most.![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Iv'e been involved with scoobs for over 8yrs and had 2 big end failures, in my experience, both times the car was WARM and running perfect, in less than a minute, after about 1 mile of WOT it was knocking like a man with 2 hammers inside a steel drum, and once it's gone there is no mistaking it for a rattling heat shield, two completely different sounds, and i've had both.![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
So you may think that you did not blow the bottom end, but if you gave it beans just once with low fuel, old fuel, wrong fuel, or just good old fashioned dodgy fuel, then trust me, it's possible that your right foot did cause it to fail.
Who's fault is that,
I would call it bad luck, who knows and **** happens, that's performance cars for ya! ![Cry2](images/smilies/cry2.gif)
To me the fact that Maks gave you even a penny back, let alone an almost full refund shows he is a VERY decent bloke.![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
I'd say the're faults on both sides, but to try and tarnish the reputation of someone who has a VERY good track record and did NOT try to shy away from this thread OR any of his problems with peoples purchases, STINKS.
And as for all the stuff about his name, WTF has that got to do with anything.![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
I have my own suspicions as to why that's an issue.
I'd buy a car and parts off him, if i had any money.![Cry2](images/smilies/cry2.gif)
As for the band wagon jumpers, **** off.![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)

If your post was aimed at me insulting you then believe me I wasn't I was just collating the facts posted in this thread as there are always 2 sides to a story.
I think the true fact is that buying an old scooby or any old car come to that can be a lottery especially if its been modified as they can go from good cars to very bad cars very quickly. Not saying you bought a lemon but its just luck of the draw.
