I believe in an eye for an eye, although not exacting the same punishment the ferocity of any crime should be met by a ferocious punishment.
"Every action has an equal and opposite reaction"
And we all live by those rules, if you do x then y will happen.
This is such an extreme crime it deserved an extreme punishment, if not only to serve to others as a warning.

This crime stays with us all as we are constantly reminded of how the perpetrators have lived well ever since, and live among us. Unfortunately in our society there will always be those looking to find reason and excuses rather than concentrate on prevention and evolution.

They don't. A two second search reveals forums like these in America openly showing the photographs along with quite graphic comments of what people would like to do to him.
