See what ya mean mate lol! Apologies
Are you going to take the stickers off Steve?
I think if you do, you will have a nice little STI there!
Good luck with it! There is plenty of info here

Good man, hope you enjoy it as much as the others then
I'm picking up my black STI version 3 in 2-3 weeks, it will be my 2nd impreza, can't wait to be honest but I'm trying to stay calm
and it says gl on the log book! Kind of the other way around to yours

I wouldn't stick with it if you are the genuine buyer and bought it believing it to be what the seller made it out to be. Its not like the seller wasn't told what it was, I contacted him myself telling him it was a V2 sti and linked him to this thread.
Either the guy was a retard and didn't believe it or blatantly misled.

he was misled, it does say 22b on the logbook which is what he based his info on and he couldnt understand why everybody was giving him such a hard time.
i understood a 22b to have two doors and a wide body kit which this has none of, but i bought it and dont think theres really anything i can do, maybe do a reg check to see what it does state. if that does say 22b then he is completely covered.
you live and learn

so you paid 2800 for a car you have no idea what it is plus you knew a 22b was a 2 door wide arch and the car was deff not this before the sale

the last scooby i bought was a uk spec sti with an ej25 engine supposedly putting out 350 bhp, prepared by a company in essex, it blew a gearbox after 6 months, took it back to them they fitted an import gearbox and diff, took it back after 1 week they put the correct gearbox in it but didnt tighten the drive shaft nuts, 2 wrecked bearings, discs and calipers. six months later blew both head gaskets.

come on mate, your trying to tell us you knew it wasnt a 22b as you obvioulsy know what one is as you said above, but bought it anyway without finding out what it was.
i smell a wind up here.
second hand cars are a gamble if you buy crap like the 22bish or a cobled together uk sti with the wrong engine fitted, wtf do you think is going to happen to a car made of the wrong parts.

I once owned a UK bug WRX, a check came back as a UK300, just because DVLA have it down as a different model doesn't mean it is that model....Now if you bought the car as 22b then on one hand I feel sorry for you but on the other I don't because you should of done your homework instead of believing what some numpty on ebay advertised it as.

Are you saying here that you believe it to be 22b?

he already stated above that he knows a 22b is a 2 door widebody.
but bought the car anyway

I don't think that Steve1200 is saying he believes its a 22B, I think he's saying that he knew I was a decent priced STI and that's why he bought it, and that the fact the logbook info is incorrect excuses the eBay advertiser from being adamant he was correct.
As an example, imagine you bought an MX5 believing it to be a Ltd edition, then after a while you sell it as such, only to find lots of people saying "Aha it hasn't got the carbon bucket seats or LSD or floor mats" Etc, but if your logbook says that and you're non the wiser you'll stick to what you think.

On the flip side though, if the numpty selling the standard (once destickered! .... please please please desticker it!) sti 4 door as a 22b ..... it got alot of attention for the wrong reasons and if the word got out, it could possibly have meant it sold for less than it should have .... therefore a buyer knowing and accepting that its just an import 4 door would possibly end up with a cheaper car as a result!
if this was the case then fair play to Steve1200 .... the bad publicity and put off buyers would have meant he saved a few quid over what it would have otherwise fetched!
.... however ..... £2800 ..... possibly saw you coming matey.
And judging by the story from your last car, it hasnt been the first time!
"second hand cars are a gamble"
..... to a certain extent yes, but a little bit of knowledge goes a very long way to improving your odds!
Good luck with the new car ...... do some research and find a more competent mechanic or you'll blow this one up too!
Im guessing you know this cars a 99ron only yes?
