Turbohot-yeah definately agree, especially with everything that's come out lately.
Thankfully the MHRA have better standards than our food industry!
Always wise to have your wits about you though!

Allan-strange! Must just be the nerve rather than infection then. Might need a root canal jobbie. They don't hurt.

Good point, well made. It's all very confusing, isn't it?

I don't think an x-ray will show up an infection as it is just swollen tissue and puss. The x-ray will show tooth, bone and fillings and an idea of the nerve location. So, for enample, decay below the gum can be seen.

OP. Did you ask your dentist today if you had an infection/abscess?

Get that amoxicillin down you

Nyscooby

5-nitroimidazole antibiotics are good against obligate and facultative anaerobes but the mixed bag of bugs in dental infections don't make it the absolute definitive drug of choice unless you are Jan P Rood.

Lol oh yeah!
Makes sense now you said that but I had a dentist tell me I had an infection in a tooth that a filling had come out of, and she saw it on the X-ray.
Tbh, I took no notice anyway because she didn't make sense and probably just didn't want to help me!
I wanted filling put back in, she said no because there is an infection in the root so needs to come out. She also said antibiotics won't work.
I'd already had a root canal in it a few years previously, and never had any pain or infection come from it. And, I didn't want it pulled out!
That was over 2years ago, it's still fine, even with a gaping hole in it!
