It's a shame your getting it mapped tomorrow as I'd have done it for you - i can flexi-work now and I'm doing some stuff for Ricky tomorrow. You don't need to remove the headers, you can get it around, but the headers are so easy to take off, only about 8 bolts.

Oh, and adding the FMIC will add some lag as you need to put more air in the system - this will accentuate the effect of an oversize up-pipe.

I'm getting it mapped next Thursday not tomorrow but spare time is short at the minute due to me re doing my bathroom.

If I remove the headers, I'm guessing I Would need new gaskets and also one for the bottom of the up-pipe (I have the upper gasket already)

I was about to offer myself for a help as well as i've done this at least 5 times now... I would say change the date of the mapping session if possible and get it done as it's a night and day difference .... Or speake to Rich about the payment, i'm sure you can work something out I need you to take in mine to feel the actual difference as i've got simillar turbo to VF34 ,,,vf30....

You may need new gaskets but you can get the header gaskets for a tenner each (steel ones not cheap pressed metal) and the up-pipe is a fairly standard if large 2 hole exhaust gasket.

If I can help I can - shame it wasn't later in the year with longer days

I will try and have a word with rich, if he can work with the map I have then it is £100 cheaper than if he needs to reflash the ecu and it will free up the cash for him to fit the up-pipe.

Where is the best place to get the gaskets?

I don't want to leave the map any longer as its not running that great and don't want to cause any major damage as it is my daily driver.

I thought as it you were mapping it this weekend or smtn... If you get the gaskets i think a binch of us could sort this out for you till next thursday...

Well yesterday was remap day and unfortunately it didn't all go quite to plan

To start off when I was about to leave for FBTuning the car wouldn't drive at all and a short time later three misfire codes explained why. Luckily once the car warmed up it ran well enough to keep off boost and get it to Rich. I can only assume the harsh frost the night before had something to do with the running issue.

Made it to FBTuning with no other issues though still sounding rough. Rich then fitted my STi up pipe and treated it and the down pipe to some heat wrap. Then went in the spark plugs and a quick oil top up and a few coffees later it was mapping time.

When rich saw the size of my RCM trumpet he was worried it would be a pig to map well and said he will have a look what he could do.

Unfortunately he could only map my car to a point of running on idle alot better and allowing me to go on boost in the low gears until I was able to source an OEM sized inlet induction kit.

Thanks to Jonmc I have got one sorted so will be back up to see rich next month for the final mapping session and then time for some nice runs out.

What were the fault codes? Frost can play havoc but quite often on bugs it seems to be down to poor earthing and fitting a grounding kit is on my to-do list when I relocate the battery

At least it's running better

They were P0301, 0302, 0304 (misfire) and when I got to FBTuning there was a P0172 (too lean)
Rich has had to add 40% more fuel to stop it running lean, but already I can feel that there is more power and more importantly better engine response.

I have asked Dawn about an earthing kit that is for sale from Harvey's garage.
