How do Travellers ...
#31
I seem to remember that the law was changed so that a "motorized caravan" no longer required to have an MOT. That lifted that lawful requirement from the travellers and also removed a lot of work from the authorities because the travellers never bothered with an MOT anyway.
The motor coach that I used to transport my racer in was registered as a motorized caravan because we used to cook,eat and sleep in it. It was however maintained in top mechanical order anyway.

I'll tell you what really narks me about "Travellers"
We had a family living near us who owned a piece of land. They farmed it, producing food for the local market, kept pigs on it and were generally just doing their stuff, and working for their living. Fine.
Along comes the Council. "You can't live in a caravan on your land as you don't have planning permission"
They were thrown off, fined heavily, and are now living in social housing.
We have another family living near us. They do **** all apart from make a hell of a mess on the roadside verge where they live. A taxi picks their kid up every day and takes him to school. They have horses and chickens running all over the place.
The Council? Won't touch them, as it's considered "Racism" (?) and "They have to live somewhere"
This is the upshot;
If you own land, you can't live in a caravan on it.
If you don't own land, you can stick a bloody caravan where ever you like, and nobody will stop you living in it.

Traders policy, and make out all the family work for the company (hence one of the reasons we don't do traders policies)
Not just the Pikey's who do this..... lots of trade policies in the Bradford/Birmingham areas.

Cars are simply shared around the family.
Someone bumps it and some accident management firm make a case for it.
