Get this all the time if im out putting some miles on the rally car between events or trying new parts/settings etc. Very annoying cos it seems almost anyone in any type of car fancies a go, im assuming they think cos its a rally car the driver must drive like hes on a rally all the time.
I just let them get on with it and carry on minding my own business.

I'm not totally convinced it's all about racing; I think they just drive that way chopping and changing lanes to try to get ahead of anyone.

I have a Spec D and had a prat the other night. Wanted to cut in but I tend to follow the Highway Code and always zip merge so he sat on my bumper until I showed him my brake lights. Another set of lights and I took the less used inside lane. He started in the outside, saw I was moving forward so jumped to the inside then, when close, he jumped into a tiny gap on the outside to try to get alongside. I blipped my way past the guy he was following leaving him stuck. It continued for several miles like that until he turned off. It was good fun really, just like racing when you have someone close behind you and you are watching your mirrors to see where they are.

Just to be clear, I wasn't racing, just positioning my car

I was once making progress and overtook a Merc. He then decided that we should race and proceeded to follow me about a foot from my bumper. I could have pressed on a bit faster, but I wasn't interested. He waited until the duel carriage way 5 miles up the road before showing me who was the boss. He overtook and disappeared like a scolded cat only to brake harshly after a double flash from a fixed speed camera. Numpty.

This, I think is the most likely but its amazing how people interpret situations and make up little stories in their head.
"Yeah he thought he could beat me, silly little Corsa driving minion. Dont you realise I have a snort-thrusting performance rally car with Turbo and everyfing cos I is at least 2 years older than you. Anyway when I roared off, his face was a picture. One of torment, anguish and despair. I bet he went home and cried, then I bet his misses left him for being a loser and then I bet he turned to drink so I bet he got fired from his job, innit .

Well all i can say is that the rally decals on my car must be a great disguise as i reckon that it is less than a dozen people that have genuinely tried to "Race" in the 6 years that i have owned the Impreza

i have probably had more people ask me to rev the engine at the lights so that they can hear the car...

yeah you get people that set off in a hurry at the lights...i have this no matter what I'm driving...maybe people just notice it more when they are in their impreza's?

i know when i used to drive the company pool cars around we used to launch them off every set of lights...using the TC as a primitive launch control....Clutch in...foot flat to the floor...just dump the clutch and sit back as the electrics try and work out WTF you are trying to achieve...not trying to race anyone...just trying to lighten up an other wise boring commute
