Right guys and girls I'll bump this thread!

I've been drafted in to sort this venue out as its going too slow

Just to let you know I've been in touch with said venue to confirm this and view and speak with landowner (just awaiting a return call) and I'm trying to stick with sat 7th sept but all will be confirmed.

I'll update more info in a few days once spoken to landowner.

Thanks

Donny andi, I take it you are from Doncaster. As I am Lincoln based could consider meeting up on route up the A1 depending on numbers or using the Layby on the A635 heading into Donnie from the A1 if only a few.
Not a problem

I have been asked to post this on behalf of Sarah, Connors mum.

Hi All

Whilst I appreciate your support for my son last year and this, I am posting at this time to let you know that this event is against my express wishes. Scott has signed an undertaking in court that this event will not take place, nor any future events in my sons name. I ask now from the bottom of my heart that you do not continue with this and understand and respect my reasons for wanting to put an end to it all.

Myself and my family wish to be left to remember Connor privately and in peace.

Thank you

Sarah

Sigh!!

I thought it was a charity event for candlelighters and other children's charities or don't you want that either?

Firstly, BIG up for picking up the gauntlet to kick start this event busta.

Secondly, think of a name or phrase that has connotations with particular types of charities that you wish us all to support.
You'll need that in order to refer to and advertise the first annual event that you seem to be planning.

Thirdly, as you'll gather, it is still possible to bring happiness to countless people without making anyone sad.

Finally - change the title of this thread.

Some people!!!I myself thought this was a childrens charity avent to raise money for all children in need, the first Connors avent I think brought so many people together from all Around the world and was such a nice thing to see people travelling from far to come and support and want to be a part of a good cause, busta keep up the good work I and my wife will definately be coming when you have arranged it,but as LuckyWelshchap said if it Is offending some people, just do a name change for this worth while cause.SJ.

Can I just add that this thread has the potential to become both emotive and emotional and that is what no-one wants.

I've no wish to put words into anyone's mouth but I think we understand the delicacy of this situation and I'm sure that we all also believe that an event of this nature, in support of children and families that have been visited by misfortune, will at heart be supported by those who have had that experience themselves.

Now - there must be someone creative enough to come up with a name.

A spin in my T20 on the day (as long as you've got insurance) for the one deemed best by bustaMOVEs.

Thanks guys for the support but I'm refraining from posting what i think for the time being but will do soon.(was the same last year!!!)

After all a name change will be pointless as we all know how this was started, I'll get back to you after making some enquiries and make nessesery changes if required.

Sarah
did connor enjoy the day?
would he be happy with another event to be arranged in his name and raise loads of money to help sick kids?

IMO you are just a spiteful person

anyway, lets get something arranged for kids charities
any ideas for names?

'cars for stars' - all kids that are ill are brave little stars and their parents are stars for everything they do

I'd argue there, in the most respectful way.

A name change wouldn't make any difference to us (or the good causes and ultimately the persons who would benefit) but it clearly would help others.

We ALL gain.

Sorry if I've misunderstood your viewpoint.

Passion is a good thing, but in this case it is far better if it is combined with compassion.

I like that title, for it also relates to those who become stars that look down on us way too early.

It has nothing to do with charities or raising money, its about a mothers right to privacy, its about parental rights, its about compassion. Had anyone have approached Sarah and actually asked her thoughts and feelings about this it would have been different.

Yes Connor enjoyed the day but he was protected from the truth, had he have known how hurt his mum was over the way she was treated he would have been mortified.

I am sure there are lots of children out there suffering who would love to be a star for the day and am sure it wouldn't be too difficult for you to find one to base this car event on. In my opinion a great way forward would be to base the car shows on a different child every year, let them select the charity they want to help that way lots more charities will benefit.

Maybe we should search for a new star, there will be a star waiting to shine somewhere.

It could then be an annual event for a new star each year.

Maybe this year it could be Harvey's Day?

His spirit still lives on.

It would make Harvey proud if we raised money for charity in his name and I feel that his family wouldn't mind.

Just in case you don't know of Harvey...

There could be an area for cars that have Harvey's handywork fitted on, it would be interesting to see just how much he contributed to the Scooby world.

Thought so! So basically your saying it would been ok if we asked you?

but with all due respect, WE as a community decided we WILL have one every year so I'm unsure whos permission we should ask for, I thought in the memory of your son would be excellent for you and your family as that's how it all started but that can be changed if you have a problem with it.

It did the car community some good throughout the media and not shown as local chavs wheel spinning etc as that's what folk would of expected, so basically it's just a reason for us to get together again and make some money for children's charities.
I'm sure there's a lot of people on here that's know/have known a sick or poorly child. So reason to come.

But we will take all the ideas on board that you guys have posted as its seems a good idea and may proceed with it to keep all parties happy.
So keep them coming lads.

[QUOTE=bustaMOVEs;11145423]Thought so! So basically your saying it would been ok if we asked you?

Why do you have to be so argumentative? that is not what I meant and no it would not have been ok. We are not even commenting on whether you have an event on a yearly basis or not and am sure I have tried to help by suggesting you involve other children.

In an ideal world bustamoves it would have been a great memory but you have no idea of what really happened last year or the hurt and pain that was caused from things getting posted on the internet that had no right to be there.

The car community came together and it was amazing but as always there are two sides to every story and unfortunately you only got the wrong version.

But in an ideal world we would never have been put in this position because children like Connor would not be dying of cancer.

I hope you can make other children happy and the car community in general should be proud that they came together that day and are prepared to continue every year to support some other unfortunate family.

I for one have done what I was asked and am now bowing out as I do not feel I need to justify our feeling's or the reasons behind us not wanting you to involve Connor's name.

Thank you.

Jodie, I'm sorry in the way I speak, I'm blunt and that's it, hence my 'with all due respect' comment.

And the issues that arised I don't/didn't want to know as its not my business I'm open minded and as said last year I just got on with the work at hand, I'm on nobodys side.

We do appreciate your and others ideas and we will change the title to keep the peace if that's what you require, no problem.

And another thread will be started in due course as I'm not the op and can't change anything on this thread once I've confirmed a venue.

The end - of the beginning that is.

The prototype was built andn had its test run.

The designers, drivers and even the fans have had their say and we seem to be in agreement that with only a few minor mods this vehicle for publicising the work of and raising much needed money for good causes can go into production.

I'm sure we can decide on how to find an annual change of 'sponsor' (once we've found this year's star).

I'd like to thank busta and Jodie/Sarah because I think this has just got better because of the discussions. A very good outcome.

Finally, I suspect that I'm right when I say that our thoughts are with all of young Connor's family, without bias or imbalance.

I like the Harvey's day idea, well done Oldun, never met Harvey but after reading his thread I can't think of a more fitting tribute.

BUT this maybe should stay about kids.

I wonder what Harvey's wife and/or family would think?
Perhaps he had a particular good cause he supported or one(s) he had a lot of time for, and perhaps they were involved in supporting young people and their families.

Anyone ?

Mixing things up a bit won't hurt I suppose, maybe someone from Harvey's/dawns side could organise a charity that supported him to come along and accept donations? But that would be dawn and families decision? After all he was a major part of the car community who will make this happen
Along with the termanily ill children as that's what this charity's about. We can offer ill children from the selected charity's to come along if they wish as all young kids love cars.

Plan A venue is a no go I'm afraid so plan B venue is on search.

i like the harvey idea, but, i think it should be kids, that was the main reason there was a massive turn out,

it's a good idea to either have a different child every year, or an event in general raising money for sick kids. i'm sure if the event can be advertised around other sites, there will be sick children that would love to have a day like connor
