cheers ryan your advice a few months back really helped me alot

I have came a long way and overcome a lot of obstacles in spraypainting
and now have two garden workshops
one I have turned into a hydro dipping booth
and the other into a spray booth with proper spray guns and a compressor too

there is some limits
circular items being one of them as the pattern stretches too much

TBH I much preffer doing smaller items as well as I done this very big slam panel recently and it was very time consuming

Obviously this is a hobby you're doing? I have no interest in doing any of this myself, I'm just curious to know what kind of money you're talking? Are you making good profit off this kinda stuff taking into account your labour or aren't you interested in making loads and just enjoy doing it and breaking even?

The carbon dip looks really cool.

Hi LSherratt

it is a hobby mate and I do make pretty good profit off it I wont say how much though but I am pretty happy with what I have made.

for a consoles pictured above I charged £50 each and have people queuing up for them but the work involved to do them is intense though
and it took a little more than a year to teach myself how to do it and spent a lot of cash on materials learning
I didnt have anyone to show me how to do the hydro dipping so pretty much figured everything out through trial and error plus a little help from ryan on how to get a good shine on the 2k clear coat.

I spent 2 or 3 thousand on everything which is a bit more than I have made so far but now I can always do this sort of stuff and sell it so over time I would have more than made my money back.

Do you think you could do anything to the mud guards on a trailer like this?

Nice one I had a go at 3M carbon wrapping once.... Failed badly lol and doesn't look half as good as the professional, nice and appealing shiny carbon dipping like yours.

Carbon wrapping looks like someone has stuck carbon tape over something.... because that is what they have done. Compared to hydro dipping it looks amateurish and a bit sad to be honest.

The finish on the the sort of work nizmo is doing here is 100 times better and looks stunning in the flesh!

a while ago I bought a roll of the 3m carbon wrap horrible stuff LOL
it is just the texture and roughness of the finish I really dont like
I think I still got it somewhere in the house.

then I went and done the plastidip which is a spray that turns to rubber on the console
I liked this effect on my console but it does not last long as it starts to peel

then I got into carbon dipping which is an amazing finish and the shine is very nice and glossy
here is a video I took of a console I spraypainted and my hydro dipped consoles have the same shine as well

the video was shot with the camera on my iphone so the video is a bit pixelated but you can change the quality to hd on the video to get a bit better picture

Hi trails I have a couple of the skull patterns as well bud

here is my radiator slam panel I done in skull pattern it has not been clear coated yet as it still needs to be 2k clear coated with a tint mixed into the clear coat to make it darker

these pictures were 5 minutes after I pulled the slam panel out of the dipping tank and had just washed off the PVA gel so its still wet

cheers tony

The gear **** was my favourite part
I gave it a good polish let me tell ya LOL

you got to forgive the hand as I had been spraying all day so my hands were covered in 2k clear coat and paint LOL

Interesting stuff Niz. I've heard of that plastidip stuff and I've seen people on other forums spraying their wheels and all sorts with it... I would imagine it to start to look very tatty after a winters use.

yea the plastidip does not last long as it peels easy I imagine if somebody
sprayed their wheels with plastidip it would only last a week or two with all the brake dust and being in all weathers.
because the plastidip spray turns into rubber all sorts of things stick too it as well
