Without knowing the exact circumstances, I could not tell you if there are grounds. Even if it did result in arrest, the investigation could very well say that there is nothing to answer.

PC Hughes is now SGT Hughes and i personally know him but we've never seen eye to eye

Now, am i right in saying a turban is a cultural head piece and is not attributed to a particular race of person.?

I've not watched the clip, but to answer your question, I'd associate a turban being the head-wear of a Sikh. I am not enlightened enough to be able to tell you if Sikhs can only be from one race, or from many.

Sgt Hughes He didn't let him finish the song. He might of sung, "I'd rather wear a turban than eat dogsh*t".

Not racist, if anything sound advice.

Spot on shows that mr hughes has a racist underbelly himself as he considered it racist due to his own failings.

TBH, now I've watched the clip, to me that just looks like he wanted an easy arrest to get off the busy streets, where he may have ended up dealing with a proper job.

It doesn't even have to be something that has been said. It can be how the 'victim' says the 'offender' made them feel. It could be anything from ignoring them, to being over-friendly, or anywhere in between.

Could they then not counter claim that they are being victimised because they are of a different race? They may feel that it is the fact that they are white that has landed them with this disciplinary and that in itself is racist.

This is probably not good advice, but it's a shame he can not turn this on it's head and make those complaining look bad.

He explains how the comment was meant, plenty of examples could be made regarding the use of this term generally (not race related) and then go for the trump card and suggest that they are the ones that are actually stating that their own race are animals. He has made a general comment about behaviour, one I have used many times, they are the ones making the link to race/ethnicity.

This says way more about them than your friend, and I wish him the bes of luck.

I was accused of being racist once at work. The police had actually been called down and were there when the comment was made, thankfully, they witnessed what had been said and done, and actually had words with the woman accusing me.

I was absolutely fuming as I was only trying to help.

Not much to report. People seem to be backtracking. From being told that they would receive disciplinary action the head has said that no further action will take place.

I am very unimpressed with the whole affair, what was said hasn't changed so why should the way its viewed and dealt with change? I am not complaining that no action will take place but why say that it will, cause so much stress and worry only to casually pass it off and say nothing more will come of it? I personally think they should apologise, but there is more chance of the proverbial pig to start flying than for that to ever happen.

I would suggest that you tell your friend to complain about how they felt victimised over this, however, I doubt it would do any good. Probably best just to put it behind them.

Yes but how does your friend feel?
Your concern is touching but it's up to your friend to take the matter forward. Or are you all planning for the forthcoming strike?

Ok I only read the OP, and skipped straight to the comment.

I am black, and although there are lots of ignorant twerps out there -most of the racial drama can be split between do gooders, minorities with chips on their shoulders and of course the bigots.

So are they trying to say its ok to call white troubled children that they are behaving like animals, giving ethnic minorities free reign to avoid such scrutiny.

We have way too many do gooders in modern society, and in this instance, the children will suffer in the long run because of lack of consistent, constructive discipline.

I pity the teacher. Please give him or her as much strength as possible.

Of course, if he was prejudiced which I doubt very much, then the law would take course.
