Our house has a very small "kitchenette" upstairs. It was once two (not very well separated) flats. We therefore are considered to have a "second home" and pay double Council Tax; arrrghhhhhh!

Read the first few posts, then gave up. Kind of new what this thread was going to entail just from the title.
At the end of the day, its that good old saying "you can't please everyone all the time". No matter who is in charge of this country, it will be the same. Makes me laugh how people think having another party in charge will be like waving a magic wand and all will be fixed. It won't, simple as that. I'm just going to go with the flow and roll with the punches. Theres **** all I can do about it, apart from stand outside westminster with a banner, which would be pointless anyway because government decisions are not decided on the back of a protest.
Before I get lynchmobbed, I do vote, so you cannot hit me with that age old line of "well, if you don't vote, you can't complain". I do vote, and i'm not complaining. I'm a soldier and the Armed forces has taken a major hit with reference to budget cuts, downsizing, pension reform / cuts etc etc etc etc etc, but yet we are always the ones who bail the country out when theres floods, fireman go on strike, security companies mess up and a million and one other things. What can I do about it???......again, **** all! Decisions have been made, end of. I just go with the flow!!!!!!!!! Ignorant, yes, not denying that. They do say though that ignorance is bliss.
Although great decision on the increase in cost of ciggies!!!

There are too many people wanting to be offended, and too many others worrying about whether there is something to be offended about, to make that true.
Back to the budget, according to Peter Oborne public spending increased by 57% under Labour (surprise!) and it has reduced by about 2.7% under the coalition.
So I say again, bring on the cuts.
Make the barsterds suffer.

By 2015 our national deficit will be the highest of any western economy.
By 2017 our economy will be 2% less than it was in 2007. A lost decade.
When the Govt talks about cuts they actually mean they'll slow down the rate of increase.
We're doomed.

It's the usual cycle of Labour in power for x amount of years = country goes to rat **** and massive debt, torries come into power = try to sort out the mess left by labour and get called all the names under the sun for making jonny no job have less dole money.
So boring and predictable, we should let the official monster raving loony party or someone else like that have a crack, couldn't f*ck it up any worse than labour has and will get the toffs out at the same time

But nevertheless in the most recent case at least, accurate. Remember this? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ell-money.html
I remember 2 recessions under the Tory government of 18 years 79 - 97 and they only really got the economy stable in the last 5 years of their tenure largely thanks to Ken Clark. You aren't going to tell me Lawson or that complete f**king bell end Lamont were good chancellors are you? ERM????? Ahem! There's been good and bad economically in both party's terms.
Sadly we're yet to see any good in this government's tenure. And we won't until Osborne resigns the post as he's a clueless ****!

Check the facts: when Labour took over in '97 UK debt as a proportion of GDP (credit card balance compared to annual income) was 43%. When Brown left the Treasury it was down to 39.5% (despite Tony Blairs largesse). Under Cameron and Osbourne we learned on Wednesday that this would rise to 85% in 3 years time.
And don't try to sell me the "state the economy was in when we took over from Labour" line lie.
It was Brown and Darling who showed the way out of international financial collapse when the bank crisis hitz delivered the bank rescue and stepped up public spending to deferred a deep UK recession (kindly delivered by the Tories in their dogmatic quest for smaller government)
The Tories can't run an economy for sh1te. And they're running out of excuses.

Makes me laugh how the labour gang bite like f*ck, I'm just on a wind up. Lets face it whoever was in power and whoever will be in power can do f*ck all about boom and bust it'sjust the way society works.
What really is pathetic is people like brown claiming they could and have put an end to boom and bust. Give or take there's a recession every 10-15 years regardless of what chomper is in charge.

Allowing for crossover between years my figures are no more invalid than yours, all they do is show a trend that makes my point, as demonstrated by the link above. Claiming specifics where money and governments are concerned will always be a nonsense as there is so much bias by most of the authors.
You weren't adopted by any chance were you?

Try and stop writing personally biased conjecture as fact and then you won't get shown up in future!!!

They do not show the same thing. You didn't present any figures. You came up with some daft statement as to how public spending has gone down under your favoured party and I showed you it hasn't. Of course as soon as I show you some figures you claim they are all nonsense. There's a surprise.

I did not make any statement (daft or otherwise) to demonstrate how public spending has gone down under my favoured party.
The point I was actually trying to make was that public spending increased massively under Labour and has barely decreased at all under the coalition, whilst meanwhile all and sundry are complaining about how tough it is because of this austerity.
The reality is that there has been very little austerity.
And where is your evidence to suggest that I am a supporter of the current Conservative party? They would need to to veer a long way to the right for that to be the case, as it is I am merely less offended (do you like that?) by them than the opposition.
Back on topic, when are we going to get the cuts required?
Stop ring-fencing health and education for a start.
Stop all child-related benefits.
Stop prolonging the lives of individuals who contribute nothing but take consistently.
Build more prisons.
Ensure all soap is on a rope.

That's because Cameron and Osborne are incompetent ***** too scared of making themselves unpopular, so like the Labour Party before them, would rather the coutnry go to ruin than actually do something about it

If you weren't so desperate to be scoring points all the time then perhaps you could take your blinkers off and you'd be slightly less predictable. Some people might even find you interesting.

I think that Osborne is doing quite a reasonable job under the circumstances, especially when the Labour treasury secretary leaves a note for his successor to say that there was no money left after the election!
Heaven help us if ***** ever got his hands on the economy again!
