My only issue was with people making "informed" opinions on some models without even sitting in one, let alone driving one or living with it for a while.

id say if the car was your everday driver though the rb320 would be the better choice as the suspension is better for uk roads and i have to say the seats are lovely, also has the proper subaru noise too.

the 2.5 engine is the weak point of the rb320 although a forged rebuilt one makes the car an even better drive.

They handle like a dream too imo with no understeer and great steering with the prodrive set up. Never personally tried it but i think the 13:1 on the spec c maybe a little fast for some on the road.
My only honest criticism with the RB is the Hyper bullsh*t pistons and the silly low profile tyres on 18"rims. They look great but on our roads i think 17" rims with a bit higher profile would have been better. Also the front splitter sits even lower because the RB is 30mm lower on the front than a std sti, so is prone to damage.
Because of the value of the RB a large chunk of the surviving cars have now been forged. Its more of a no brainer spending 3K to fix the issue on a car worth 15-20k than it is on a car worth 6-8k.

i guess its what you want from a car really, if its weekend track car then the spec c would suit, but an everday fast a to b car the rb320 would be a better choice.

i like to mod my cars and i personally think the rb's and spec c should remain standard.

i have a spec c steering rack fitted on my blob sti and i dont find it a problem at all on the roads. it feels no different in everday driving but better when going for a spirited b road blast.

I agree with this I would like to try the 13:1 ratio rack one day. As for not modding the RB, i agree but the funny thing is you would be hard pushed to find a standard one. Most look pretty standard but under the bonnet is a different story.

i know modding cars is basically a waste of money as you never get it back but i think a standard rb320 would be worth more money than a modified one, which id say would be the opposite if you were looking to buy say a uk hawk sti.

i just think the limited edition cars should be left alone and leave us sti boys to butcher up imprezas.

Don't be daft, I don't do crack.

But tbh, i'd rather keep the blob wagon which is pretty much my perfect daily driver, and spend the rest on my type r.

Cosworth CS400

I don't think any of these are the cars (apart from p1)
Are what Subaru sti division Japan wiuld envy the uk for
Pit all the above against the jap version top of the pile equivalent and as I said the jap ones are the special ones .
Uk ones are just too soft in comparison

Your missing the point. They are specials and have a following. I have had three UK cars and three JDM and I liked them all just because they were Subaru's.

Its not some badge/edition/version snobbery or because I spent all day charging down B roads to prove a point. They are Scoobs.

The difference is between a factory built special and a domestic market special, if you wanted a domestic market special then you may as well add the type 20 and type 25 to that list

The only debatable car out of the list that was a factory car that didnt have too much done to it was the P1, but its more of a mix of an STI Version 5 and a type R shell than a production car (as no JDM was a match to this).

Oh, you could add the 22B type uk, definately a factory car that one

Disagree. When i go to a main dealer for parts or come to insure with a non specialist insurance company my RB320 is on there list as a subaru model. The car also came with a subaru service book but with an RB320 cover and build number printed inside the booklet. Thats because its a Subaru "offical" model unlike the Lichfield cars. I'm not knocking the Lichfield cars at all, just pointing out why they shouldn't be on that list. Same would go for the car Revolution are building and engine tuners car once it hits the market. Great cars i'm sure but not subaru official models.

This is my point, the RB320 isnt an official model in Subaru's eyes, only in Subaru UK's eyes, you will not find a chassis number that points to it being an RB320, it will say wrx sti 2.5.
Have a look at a 22B and it has a chassis number for a 22b.
This is why the type 20 & 25 should be included if you include the domestic market limited editions

Your right until you start including the type 20 and 25 cars. There not sanctioned or endorsed by subaru in any way unlike the official prodrive modified cars.

The main difference between the UK marketed imprezas and the Japanese marketed imprezas is that we are short changed here in the UK and get a lot less product for our money.

Hi, newbie here after some JDM advice please.

I've seen a couple of JDM WRX bugeye Impreza's advertised recently with no mention of them being Sti's. Is there any difference between a UK WRX bugeye and a JDM WRX?

I see a lot of you posting about the Sti, twinscroll etc but I can only find limited info on the WRX. They all seem to be selling for a higher premium, based on them having the hid lights, folding mirrors etc but theres no mention of any mechanical or engine differences.

Better engine spec and 250 ps as standard, rear wiper and a few better upgrades.

If you look at a lot of UK limited editions they are just a raid on the JDM parts bin and charged at a massive premium.
