Not true. Acceleration would be king. Any gap opened up reaching the limit would not be able to be closed by those behind. Lots of stop start driving would mean that the performance car would still arrive earlier than a non-performance vehicle due to a higher average speed despite the limiter.

Its so easy now though to speed, modern cars will have up at 70 within a few seconds.
I reckon that speed limits need to be changed now even more so on motorways.
Technology has moved massively forward since these speed limits were put on the roads, but i'm finding most roads more so dual carriageways are being reduced from 40 to 30mph.Its effing stupid in a modern car having to do 30mph on a long stretch of dual carriageway, was nothing wrong keeping it at 40mph or even upping to 50,30mph is too damn slow for a dual carriageway, and that's what's happening by me...
And has for speed limiters can shove it up your ****,all is needed is more driver awareness and sensible driving. My only concern with upping the speed limit on motorways is the arseholes who can't even enter a motorway correctly nevermind driving on one.Oh but i just remembered you can still pass a driving test in this country then go straight on a motorway without having had any motorway driver training or a test to be taken before you get a full uk licence.
Speed limiters isn't the solution....

I have experience of motorway traffic all doing the same speed - its a nightmare - the roadworks on the M6 through the midlands often have huge lines of trucks (especially but often lanes of cars too) all going at a fixated 50mph, its solid wall of metal, that you can't filter into at at exits... you really have to watch the traffic as you can't assume you can get over a lane to get off.... its terrible as there is often absolutely no variation in traffic speed... it definately makes driving more difficult as there are no gaps anywhere!

You've answered your own question there Why buy an STi rather than a WRX when they are both capable of 70 mph and the only difference is that one has a higher top speed that you never use and is quicker to 70?
