Random TelBoy tiresome fact time - it's only not a State funeral because the gun carriage carrying her coffin is being pulled by horses, not sailors.

I'm ambivalent about the whole proceedings. In some respects i think a noteworthy Prime Minister is more deserving of the ceremony than a Royal who just happened to be born into the right family. £10m in the scheme of things is small change.

note quite true

a state funeral requires a motion or vote in Parliament - that is the real distinction

I find it difficult to understand why people should complain about her funeral costs when she saved the country £75 billion by forcing the Eu commissioners to give us a rebate on our costs to be part of the Eu.

What fraction are the costs of her funeral of that?

It is almost as though the people complaining are doing it purely for political reasons!

Even Miliband gave her full praise for her enormous leadership qualities.

[quote=Mouser;11059577][quote=Leslie;11059497] It did not sound "tongue in cheek" and use of the word you mentioned sounded like a mercy killing for an ill animal.

If you say so.

[quote=Leslie;11059497] Yes we all get taxed on any pension of course!

Are you sure about that?

Well it did to me,I was obviously wrong.

Yes you do get taxed on the OAP as well as any other pension you might receive which is beyond tax free allowances.

No nothing to do with any comment you made but just a point I felt like making, I wonder how far they go with their claims after they were caught out in the grand fiddling that was going on in the recent past.
