It was local to me actually, it was up for £2700 as the bodywork needed some TLC, lots of parking dings etc. But it was geniune 55k miles, full service history, it drove beatifully, had the PPP kit and prodrive springs. So made an offer and the rest is history.

It owes me more than £2200 now, I put it into the bodyshop the week after I bought it and it had a full respray other than the roof and rear tailgate. Even with the paint i've had done its still a cheap for a WRX PPP Wagon and i could make a tidy profit on it if I were to sell it I would think.

id say it was cheap due to its condition, like you say you spent some money on it to get it up to scratch.

you generally get what you pay for with these cars.

Yeah mechanically its wanted for nothing, cambelt was done at 35k, all services etc. But just needed a tidy up, very happy with it now though.

what is your budget, you say a 5 door so that rules out 75% of imprezas and leaves you either a wagon (estate) or the hatch

Budget's around £4000 & it would have to be a wagon or hatch for our dog. Our French booze runs would probably need the extra space of the wagon too!

id say you have no chance of getting a hatch for 4k, so that just leaves wagons.

classic bug or blob really or possibly a non turbo hawkeye.

the first three will have the 2.0 engine the hawk has 2.5 which not only is in the high tax bracket but the 2.5 is a crap unreliable engine too.

Thanks for that Tommy, frankly I'd prefer the 2.0 engine anyway, it'll probably be a bug which is a shame in a way. I remember thinking how ugly it was when it first came out but over time I've warmed to it....... a little.

Still looking for something for up to 4k.

Cant find a bug sti anywhere as the one on Pistonheads sold (although the seller relisted it yesterday??)

Would also consider a Type R or well modded newage WRX. Tempted by the silver one on the 1st page but I dont know enough about the car.

Still looking for something.

Will consider a well sorted classic Sti, type r that needs work or maybe a decent spec bug. £3.5k to spend, may be able to go a bit more.

I cannot go more than 4k so please dont post anything over this. Cheers
