Still for sale....

Ok, well i've never been in this situation before...selling my 1st car private!
Even though i'm holding a deposit in excess of £10k, the buyer coming from a Nissan GTR R35 isn't sure if a Scooby is for them.

So, even though the car is faultless & the prospective buyer couldn't find fault, with the car or test drive, they don't want to commit to the buy as yet....
Hence they are aware & know the risk (while deciding what to do) that it might sell, so it's on the market for sale & their deposit will be returned should it.

Further to the below advert, the front end respray has been completed (thanks Ryan, aka Prodriverules), with an all over machine polish & detail.
Also, I fitted a new front splitter, due to a couple of the fixing points being broken after hitting a piece of ice in the snow we had last. Which isn't too bad, considering it was the OE splitter & had been fitted for almost 6 years!!

The forged build is fully run in, where it went back to Paul Finch for its first oil & filter change after 1000 miles.
I put in Milers CFS 10w 40 & a filter which he trusts supplied by Paul.

That sucks mate. I don't see what he has to worry about, what with its fresh forged engine and over all mint condition. I know you have your heart set on a GTR but if it doesn't sell or some gimps try offering silly low money. Why no bung a sc42 or 46 turbo, bigger injectors and map to about 420-440bhp. Be like a new car all over again.

It's nothing to do with the RB Rog, the buyer just isn't sure if it's an Impreza they want.

I'll try & get round to doing a proper advert over the weekend for Pistonheads.

Cool, to be honest i would have been very surprised if there was any doubt regarding the car itself. It's a fantastic example in tip top condition with freshly forged engine.
Great add by the way.

I remember driving the prototypes round the Prodrive test track at Kenilworth. I think it was £50 at the Autosport NEC show to be shuttled over.
Its what made want a Impreza so bad I bought at RB5 two months later.

Yeah, some lucky person will get a fantastic car and with piece of mind regarding engine issues. It's a great price too considering this particular car and its condition . I have seen some at that price advertised but nowhere near as nice and well spec'ed. I was hoping my 6 number would of come in last night so i could buy it for the misses. Tough luck on her.

Yes, I think you are right on the money, with the proceeds going to the Richard Burns foundation. Blimey it's bringing back memories from longer ago than I thought!
They also did runs round the Tarmac rally stage in standard STIs. My instructor was brilliant, just kept encouraging everyone to brake later and later!
Great buy then on an rb5. I bet there is a few of us who would love to find a mint example. Maybe an rb5 for the wife, and an rb320 for me!

Check the rear shocks have the "3rd bearing re-work" sticker on them. This sticker is just by the prodrive sticker. Blistein re worked the shocks on an exchange basis to stop them knocking.
The other thing to be aware of is they came with 3 different interiors. The standard STi, or RB branded leather which was a £1400 upgrade or RB branded leather and alcantara which was a £1500 upgrade. These upgrades also came with leather door cards.
I'm not sure if this is still the case but Iggyrb320 was considering selling up to buy a GTR35r. I believe his has a freshly forged engine. It's a very nice well cared for car.
Any other questions please feel free to pm me.
My RB320 has been knocking for a few months now. Graham from Mr Clutch Chelmsford has identified the problem as a worn CV joint. While I hope that replacing this will cure the issue, I often wonder whether there are other knocking noises too (to my ears the worst seem to be coming from the rear whereas the worn cv joint is on the front). How in layman's terms do I check to see if the work you described above has been undertaken? Do I need to remove the wheels to see the sticker?

I assume Bilstein have long since stopped offering the fix. Any idea how much it would cost to have it done now?

Thanks in advance for any advice

I've not heard of any RB's having worn CV joints, and some are around or over 100k.
You maybe able to see the third bearing re-work sticker on the rears with the wheels still on. Some have re-worked on the fronts too but very few cars had effected front shocks.
Chevron Motorsport do a re-work service for about £50 + vat per corner if you give them a shock without spring and removed from the car. They also do a drive in drive out service but that will be extra. I believe Roger Clark also do this service.
Chevron. 01785 223336.
