My home made intercooler water spray..

JGM - Quick explanation:
It's all about latent heat of evaporation - in a nutshell, a lot more energy is used changing the water into steam, than heating the water to the point it evaporates. If the water's atomised, it will evaporate more quickly, and take more energy(heat) away. If you dump a bucket over it, it will take a lot longer to reach evaporating point.
At least, I think that's how it works

They wont spray at the angle i need them to.... i need them to sit like washer jets do, so they are screwed into the bottom of the intercooler scoop and spray forward...
It did cross my mind..

Chaz you're rite diesel injectors do give a finer mist due to the fact that they are under about 2500 to 3000 PSI befour the pintel lifts to release the atomised fuel.

seen the sti spray in action abit primitive what u need is the injector nozzels from an old diesel bioler or steam-cleaner they give off a realy fine mist there are different sizes too so far about 1.5 us gal/h is the best ive tried but would like to try about 2 gal and they work of a basic windscreen washer pump as apposed to a headlight washer pump eg. u dont have to fill u r water bottel every ten minutes

Scooby Regular
iTrader: (4)
I done this on one of my cossie's.
I used a water injection spray nozzle which I had left from an ERL kit I had on a previous cossie(told them none were supplied with it & they sent me 3 more, then I found the ones that did come so I had 6, I still have some) and like you Dan I used a washer bottle (from a transit)
The water injection nozzles work really well for this type of thing as they spray really fine and cover quite a big area like a fog. Come to think of it i've still got some somewhere...might give it a go on the scoob myself, was gonna do a chargecooler. This can be done cheap too using a shower pump from a caravan and a boost pressure switch etc, me and my friend done this on his gti-r after being quoted £200 for a pump when his failed, £25 for one in a caravan shop sorted it we were driving round going in agricultural shops looking for nap sack style crop spraying pumps when we decided to drop into this caravan shop and there was a whole wall of 12v water pumps
