Commission Regulation Number 2257/94 details the regulations covering the quality standards for bananas, including the requirement that they be at least 5.5 inches long and 1 inch wide. The regulation includes the provision that they be free from "abnormal curvature".
What a load of bollocks. Does it taste nice? Yes? Well I couldn't give a **** how long, wide or abnormally cuirved it is then!

Not made up Martin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commiss...%29_No_2257/94 Apology?
Have banana's become noticably less bendy?
It's just bolloxs and you appear completely happy to pedal it!

You claim that bendy bananas reg is a made up story, sorry, "bolloxs", I post a link to the appropriate reg to show its not. What's difficult to understand? The reg exists, I didn't make it up. Just a simple "Oops my bad" is OK...

Are there similar regs for other fruits or foodstuffs, that stipulate minimum size, colour of the food, say apples, tomatoes etc
That link certainly stipulates various criteria bananas have to conform to, especially the highest quality class ones - but does not go into specifics
The supermarkets are often the worse for self enforcing these sorts of ridiculous criteria on the sole basis of "it is what the consumer demands"

Boy, life's looking up!
When Nige gets into No 10 and bins the useless EU life really will be sweet!
I'll be able to eat any shaped banana I like, have my bald patch dyed blonde and skip the skin test and have a junior doctor whose been working for 108 hours attend me when I get to casualty.
And I won't be surrounded by benefit-scrounging Bulgarians and Rumanians, just by unemployed Brits, but hey-ho!
Can't wait.

The start of what? A slow spiral into isolation and continued decline? All for what?
And granted, my eyesight’s not what it was, but coming from one so short-sighted and lacking in vision, that’s rich!
You want to chuck out the dirty bath water (who wouldn’t?), but you can’t see the bouncing baby splashing in it!

There was NEVER any threat to bendy banana's as evernts have shown.
I don't understand why you so want sensationalised nonsense like this to be true?

Errrr OK I admit Im struggling here. I post the appropriate reg and you still claim its made up. Its a novel discussion point to blatantly deny in the face of evidence that something is wrong. But you're an idiot.
HTH!
(Actually just reread your post, and who ever said "our beloved banana's were suddenly going to be declared illegal"? Not me. The discussion was about curvature or bendiness of bananas. Seems like now you're even struggling to understand what's being discussed)

Can I just point out that a banana is a banana when it is only one banana on its tod. If two or more, you refer them as bananas, not banana's. It's just that if Telboy walks in here by any chance, he'll go bananas at your banana's! You don't need that during this profound cyber-discussion.
This thread is an interesting read. Well done, all.

I know we've moved on to bananas but the dye test business isn't anything new. When my wife had her salon she did a skin test on new people or sometimes every year as skin can change over the years. The cost going up because of it is ***** IMO.

You really are a proud child of the Left aren't you?
I give up with you, there is no reasonable debate. Back on block for you (just so you know not to expect an answer)

The fact is there is an EU regulation governing what dimensions a banana must conform to. Why? Who pays for **** like this? If I go into a shop to buy a banana and think it is too thin or too small or too bent I won't buy it. Why do I need an EU regulation to make that judgement for me?
It's pathetic and just another way to justify their overblown existence. They would be better off trying to get a legal copy of their accounts published than writing up stupid regulation after regulation.

Yes but my point is that my partner has been to this hairdresser many times before yet now she needs a skin test or to sign a disclaimer. I can just about understand it if she hasn't been their before, but this just seems like overkill. That and it coincides nicely with a new EU regulation from August 2012 of course

What the hell are you talking about?
How on earth does a abstract discussion about bananas make me a 'child of the left'?
