Galaxy S4 has landed...!

If anything the s4 has some slight lag in use, as for power the htc in tests is quicker as touchwiz is heavy set.
As for hardware they're both snapdragon 600, granted the s4 is overclocked, but seems to be throttled back quite a lot, could be the plastic affecting the cooling.
Had a play with an s4 today and they're nice, though camera seemed to take a while to focus.

I'm a little bit of a gadget freak and an apple fan. I sold my i5 and bought the s3 LTE model. Which is quicker and uses different wifi technology than the standard s3. I got on with it no problem but I sold it and went back to the i5. The reason I did this was, when s4 was announced it sounded epic. Very clever phone. That was until I found out the the s4 being released in the uk was a lesser model with different chip set to the rest of the world. This is due to the current 4g spectrum that EE uses. Essentially the s4 uk model is not massively different to i5. Granted it has some clever tech in it. I will wait and see what apple release. I can't see it being that spectacular going by previous minor updates (3GS 4s). I think it will be another year till they release something "special". It has to be as well because people are getting a little bored with how it is at the moment. I agree I think IOS 7 will be a major leap forward. Frankly it has to be to keep the interest alive.
But taking nothing away from Samsung. They have and epic screen.

Are you referring to the Quad and Octa core processor and the fact in the Uk we have the 4-core and not the 8-core? Not sure that would be really noticeable to be honest - although I haven't had a hands-on with the S4 yet.
Benchmark tests (unverified) seem to indicate the S4 with the quad-core will still be twice as fast as the iphone 5. From what I can gather the main loss from the 8 to 4-core will be battery life.

Out of curiosity, as I have never been a sheep in the world of mobiles, is it only acceptable to own an i5 or an S3/4 when in comes to street cred ?
No one seems to talk about anything but, imo the Xperia Z and the One are better and far more aesthetically pleasing than the pair of these but you never see anyone discussing them really, not cool enough for school ?

Tip: dont vault a fence chasing after your two year old son with the Xperia Z in your back pocket and land badly, the screen doesn't like it
Lets see how what Sony say on repair costs as I dont expect that to be covered by the warranty, they've had it two days and said nothing so far and with an advised turn around of 5 days the longer they stay silent the better chance I have of having it fixed for free (no chance)
It's fun having the old HTC Desire back up and running in the interim, it's bloody bomb proof !!

other EU countries will receive the same model as 8 core will relase later this year, thats main reason and only main difference could be with battery live -last longer maybe on 8 core but still not clear 8 core will come with LTE module.
About sony Z as i owe sony play, i considered it but no gorilla glass, sony use own technology but they add some screen protector which takes scratches easilly, worst battery and You cant change it.
HTC one no card slot plus frame is plastic the same as s4 and speakers grills are glued ,arent made from one piece with frame thats shows hows piece of s h i t it is.

Not sure anybody is arguing there Makes complete sense that a device with over twice the processing power of another device runs stuff twice as quick. I expect Apple are rushing ahead with the iPhone 5s/6/whatever which will probably feature a quad core device. Then it more than likely will be faster than the S4. For now though, as far as smartphones go, it is the leader of the pack. End of.

Here's the thing though. That also says the 4 core S3 is faster than the iphone 5 and yet side by side the iphone 5 responds faster, opens apps faster, downloads attachments faster, etc, etc, etc (on the same wifi connection, btw) so I'll wait to see a real world comparison before making judgement.

Upgraded to an S4 yesterday, coming from an S2 its a big improvement. Obviously Android is Android and there isn't really much to tell there. Its certainly much quicker than my S2 was (which I rooted and flashed with vanilla Jellybean 4.2) and some of the Samsung bundled apps are quite nice like the health tracker and the TV guide which acts as an IR remote but mostly they're just bloat. The screen is amazing, the colours are spot on and text is pin sharp and even though its physically only slightly bigger you have quite a bit more room on-screen, for example I can see 9 emails in my Gmail inbox where previously I got 6 (I think!). Camera takes a very good picture for a phone, video is pretty good too. Battery life is now at 74% after 7hrs which includes quite a bit of time awake (playing with the new toy!) which is a massive improvement over my S2 which would have been on charge by now (2 year old battery...).
TLR - Faster than previous S phones, amazing screen.

As for performance meh it's the same chipset work it out einsteins. Given a 4.2 update and bump the clocks it'll match the s4 if not comfortably top it.
Doesn't need it, it's still faster not to mention all that plastic in the gs4 means it throttles a lot, the htc doesn't hardly do this. P
As for the gs4 quality, it's a plastic phone, you can't compare it to the htc and iphone.
And guess what my previous phone was a samsung galaxy nexus, just for you fanboys.

I've just picked up the HTC One, my other phone being a Nexus 4. Only had it a day so can't comment on battery life etc.. Rooted it and now running a custom ROM. Initial impressions are good, but the build quality is not as good as the hype, I have a gap on top where the speaker grill is. I probably wouldn't have noticed until I read about it on a website. I also have one spec of dust behind the screen. Really annoying now I know it's there as I keep looking at it. It does seem to get quite warm, but I have been running bench marks and giving it heavy use. The TV app is great with the IR remote, and blink feed is good. I've seen different attempts at sticking all feeds in one widget and blink feed is the best I've seen. I'm not a fan of capacitive buttons anymore either. On my Nexus I am used to removing all buttons from the screen and using the Pie controls of the Paranoid Android ROM which is awesome. No doubt this will make it's way to the One, but the capacitive buttons will still be there. The screen is excellent and super sharp. The phone runs nice and smooth and switching between wifi and mobile data is very quick.
Bench scores:
And here's the gap I'm talking about, not my phone, but very similar gap:
