FYI,

I got caught doing dead on 100mph on a dual carriageway (70 limit) by a hidden mobile camera.
I received the NIP 3 days later, admitted my guilt and waited
About a week later received a letter saying I had to appear in court.
Now this was my first offence, I was 25 at the time and decided to get myself a solicitor.
To cut a long story short I was fined £500 and 6 points SP30, no ban.

In your case as you have had previous motoring convictions, I think you might be lucky to get away with a ban (sorry to say that)

Hope this gives some more insight, but at the end of the day obviously this all boils down to the judge's decision

Good luck.

Rob.

Listen my heart goes out to you mate. I have 6 points on my licence, 3 that honestly should'nt be there. (moody copper) I mean how many of us touch a ton every day in our scoobies when we are on our own. How many of us sometimes go faster. I was traveling down a road in my MY01 the other day and looked down to see a triple figure digit registering on my speedo. At the time i was completly unaware that i was doing that speed so i slowed down. The point im getting at is that our scoobies are well cabable of excessive speed without us even knowing,so why dont the coppers just give us a break. I know that it is completly unrealistic but hey idealist. I,ve said it before and ill say it again where are the coppers when you see 3 huge men kicking crap out of some lad on the floor? Answer, 100 yards round the corner pulling over speeding motorists.

***** FINAL RESULT *****

2 hour delay and a 40 minute hearing, very good (and expensive solicitor ), my Ops Director as charachter reference to state how difficult my job would be without a car etc and I ended up with....

6 points and a £350 fine BUT NO BAN

Without the hardship case, I would have been given 6 points, £350 AND a 4 week ban

Not great, but a lot better than it could have been

Magistrates were the usual 'picked on at school turned power crazy' indivduals that become police officers Prosector was an absolute b'stard but all in all a good result

Cool

If you could do it again (knowing the outcome), would you have chosen to plead guilty by post, accept the ban but save the lawyers money (and use it to go on a 4 week holiday perhaps) ?

Definitly not - the outcome without a solicitor would have been same points, same fine, and 4 or even 6 week ban (they give you top for postal pleas), and I would have the same 'driving on egg shells' for 9 months (until older 3 points come off)

The inconvenience of 4/6 weeks with no car would be massive for me, I would lose way more (ie over ten times) than the legal fees in lost business, and that is before even further increased premiums from having a ban

Plus cost of brief (£600-1000) would not buy much of a 4-week holiday - especially with a wife who would have to be included

Solicitor was worth every penny to keep me on the road

Yes thats pretty much the same story as me, although I only have a 35 mile commute to work, so it *would* be possible to get there - even though I work in the middle of no-where and it would take 2 hours each way, but inconvenience is supposed to be the point I believe.

I actually hadn't realised that a ban went on your license, I had assumed it was just the points that you got with the ban that made the difference.

Well congrats anyway, I think you haven't come of *too* bad all said and done ... I'm just waiting till this happens to me ...
