It was hardly a bomb, more a 2 ton projectile aimed near the south pole, nowhere near any of the Apollo sites.

Yep, it's definitely out of the earths atmosphere, or you wouldn't need a space suit

Fairly sure it's just semantics we are arguing here, I'm sure if you asked any of the people that get back from the ISS if they had ever been to Space, they'd say "yes".

But I accept that it may be too close to earth to be in harm's way in terms of radiation.

I'm pretty sure they went to the moon.

However what I can't understand is that all around the world are VLT's (very large telescopes) that are capable of seeing across the universe, or our solar system, and even the poles of Mars...

So why don't they just point one at the moons and take a photo of the landing site, flags, lunar buggies and orbital landers. Surely that would prove they did it.

My little scope at hone shows me the rings of Saturn but not good enought yo see the Apollo sites.

The space station is quite definitely in space

However the orbit is low enough to below the inner Van Allen radiation belt. Therefore posing limited radiation

NASA astronauts get their space wings issued after being at 50 miles high

Space boundary is commonly recognised at the Karman Line or 62 miles

The university of Calgary calculated space to start at 73 miles based on gravitational pull.

Now the space station orbits at a maximum height of 221 and a minimum of 217 decaying 1.5miles per month..

Way into space...

Geek no..... just interested.

The most conclusive evidence that the Americans landed on the moon is the independent corroboration.

At the height of the cold war and the space race the jackpot goal was a manned mission to the moon, the only way that the Americans could regain any self respect after a long and distinguished line of Soviet space firsts (first icbm, first satellite, first animal, first man, first woman, first multi person crew, first eva, first hardware on the moon and Venus, first flight around the moon with live animals returned safely. If the Soviets thought for even 1 millisecond the yanks were faking they would have shouted the truth from the rafters with great gusto.

Two scenarios follow detection of a hoax.

1. Proof that it could not happen. If the Soviets were convinced that it is physically impossible to go to the moon (ie radiation form the van Allan belts) then they would have proved it. As it was they had already proved that animals could survive the trip around the moon and back in 1968, a year before Apollo11

2. Proof it did not happen. If the Soviets thought it is possible to land on the moon and return safely but the Americans hadn't done it, they would have pulled out all the stops to land something at the supposed sites themselves and prove the Yanks had never been there.

In fact, to perpetrate a hoax so convincing that even the Russians would be convinced would be so expensive and politically dangerous I am sure it would actually be simpler to just go to the moon.

As it is the Soviet Union was satisfied that the Americans had done as they claimed and terminated their own lunar missions to concentrate on other space goals. The first docking of capsules, first space station, first hardware on Mars. Their list is almost endless in comparison the efforts of the USA

The most compelling argument against the conspiracy theorist is bleedin common sense and logic.

Honestly - I would seriously consider having these conspiracy theorist nutters institutionalised. At the very least they shouldn't be allowed to breed!

The yanks sent definititive proof of the moon landings when they posted live footage of the event from their base camp on Mars. Took a while to reach earth though.....

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. However, being Scoobynet, they have to jump on everything you say, quite literally.

Why do most people beleive eveything our Governments tell us? Next they'll be telling us Blair was right, WMD's really were in Iraq !!

The "Point a telescope at the Moon" argument has been mentioned before, yet the Sheep, (I believe everything) get told that the Moon is to bright, and will therefore Bust the telescope. NASA & the Government said it, so therefore it's true

Well the rockets course to leave Earth was set thru the polar region, minimising the time in the Van Allen belt, and basically flying in a Parabola around the belt. The Russians sent animals around the far side off the moon and back again in 1968 and they survived the journey.

Photos have been issued of the lunar landers before, and the conspirators say they are fake too. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-14813043

Any other reasoned arguments?

Well surely the 0.05mm aluminum foil hat you wear on your head to shield your brain is proof that it works.
