Yes but all the chavs buy them and put alloys and body kits on them etc and drive them like loons and crash them as to why they have more claims than a non Chav type car, insurance groups don't make much of a difference for a 'new' driver, it's the same risk IMO.
Insurance groups only make a difference to an experienced driver who has ncd
And women drivers don't get discount anymore.

It's definitely a postcode lottery... My ST was nearly £100 more to insure after I'd moved house!

I've got my eye on a Y plate corsa locally that i know needs a clutch... Not a difficult job on the little 3 cylinder. Done a few over the years.

I really do feel for kids who save up for some £500 wreck and get a bill for £2000 (or more) for insurance. But I guess that's what claims from kids cost now.
When I was a lad my school mate had the use of his dad's DB5 and drove it legally with me as passenger as I had passed my test, insured for family members. Looked great with L plate on back
Things seem to have changed

In my area, I know more young women who drive like complete bellends than young men simply because the young men can't afford to get caught acting the maggot.
Young buck wrecks his car, gets book thrown at him and his da will tell him tough luck. lesson learnt.
Young girl wrecks her car, cries to mommy and daddy, daddy ends up paying for the damage out of his own pocket so insurance doesn't get involved, fixes either her car or buys her a new one. Not one lesson is learnt by girl.
Exactly the same goes for car maintenance.

Skyinsurance can I ask what engine size she could seriously go up to without breaking the bank and in what sort of model in your experience. Many thanks. Andy
